This summer, delve into Scottish arts and heritage at Celtic Summer School! The 3rd edition of this week-long series features workshops on literature, song, story, dance and much more, all exploring the nation's Celtic culture and ethos.

Later in the month, Janis Mackay leads a week-long course on developing the Art and Craft of Storytelling - a fantastic introduction to those looking to break into storytelling - and Gaelic speaker Roddy Maclean reveals Legends of the Landscape in Perthshire.  

Craft your skills, enliven your communities and embrace Scotland's culture through the traditional arts.
Now in its third year, Celtic Summer School explores literature, song, story, dance, poetry, mythology, archaeology and history in a gloriously engaging week-long exploration of the nation's Celtic culture and ethos.

Attend for the whole week, single days or individual sessions, choosing your own study strands, and benefit from the knowledge and expertise of writers, musicians and storytellers working in a variety of sectors.

In this introduction to storytelling within the context of Scottish cultural heritage, you will learn from storyteller Janis Mackay how to breathe life into a story with a professional storyteller. You will also experience storytelling in the landscape, with two day trips organised in conjunction with the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Fri 19 - Mon 22 Aug | All weekend | £160-245

An introduction to the rich heritage of Gaelic legends and historical tales from Highland Scotland, told (largely in English) by a fluent Gaelic-speaking tutor, Roddy Maclean. Explore Perthshire glens, lochs and rivers, which provide locations for some of the most famous tales of the Gàidhealtachd. Weather dependent, this course includes short walks on rough ground, so participants should be reasonably fit and equipped for the outdoors.
