NEWSWORTHY
Historic Gallery Players Posters

In honor of the 70th Season of Gallery Players, framed posters of its productions spanning back from as early as 1979 are on display in the lobby of the College Ave. JCC.

The majority of these pieces were donated by long-time Gallery Players participant and patron, Pam Wilson. Pam joined after moving to Columbus in 1974 and worked side by side with Harold Eisenstein for many years. She served on the drama committee, as subscription committee chair , as a Board member of the JCC, and performed in shows. The posters represent years of active involvement in Gallery Players where either she or her husband, Steve, acted or participated in the shows.
Pam and Steve met during Gallery Players production of Yentl.

The posters hung in their home for many years, and when it came time for them to move to a condo, Wilson knew just the place to house her special memories and donated them to the JCC to honor Gallery Players 70th season.

"I've been involved for ever and ever," Wilson said, "I'm drama oriented. I have been doing all sorts of forms of performance since I was 4 years old. I love being on the stage and Gallery Players was very welcoming and a lot of fun. It was a great introduction to the Jewish community since I did not grow up here. It was a very comfortable place for me to be."

According to Pam, the success of Gallery Players' longevity is due to it's very foundation - it's mission to produce theater of the highest artistic expression, reflecting a Jewish perspective while exploring common humanity.

"I was very fortunate to know many of the original Gallery Players," Wilson said, "Gallery Players was rooted with the right mission and vision. There were not any other places in town at the time where anyone could go and be part of a community theater. There is a strong purpose and it gave it a great foundation to build on."

Don't miss the poster display in the lobby OR any of the fantastic shows for the 70th season! Season subscriptions are now on sale.
Jon Diebler Basketball Camp

In the 4th annual Jon Dibeler Basketball Camp, JCC Campers K - 12th grade spent the week learning basketball skills, teamwork, and drills with former OSU Basketball star Jon Diebler and coaches Eddie Days, Dallas Lauderdale, Evan Ravenel, Jeremiah Diebler, Will Smith and guest speakers Jared Sullinger and Aaron Craft.

"Our goal is to make sure the kids have fun this week. While we work with them to develop their skills and understanding of the game, we really want them to come out here and have fun." - Jon Diebler
