It was great to see so many of you at Showcase Central last week. I hope you had a great time and learned even more about our school. We're all so proud of our school and love to show it off. The best part of the night for me is turning you and your student over to our teachers and staff. They are the same that evening as they are every day of the year. I'm blessed that I get to see their passion and energy on a daily basis.

The next step in this process is New Student Registration beginning March 6 and 7. This issue's "How Does That Work" section focuses on our registration process and I hope it answers most of your questions before you have to ask. Having said that, don't hesitate to ask!  Feel free to call/text me at (309) 533-2200 any time - my phone is always on. If e-mail works better for you, send me your questions at svogel@blmcchs.org

What's New At Central Catholic?
Our Girls Are Going To State!

Their semifinal game is Friday night at 7:15 and you can still get tickets in advance here at Central Catholic from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). They're also available at the door. If you've never experienced a high School State Tournament, the atmosphere, intensity and excitement is hard to match.

Register Your Team Now
Madhatters Trivia Night is Saturday, March 4
Mad Hatters Trivia Night is right around the corner! Put your team together and join us Saturday, March 4. Check-in begins at 6:15 p.m. and the questions start flying at 7:00 p.m. Teams can be 6 or 8 of your closest (and smartest) friends and you can register here. This is a fun way to meet your Central Catholic Family.
How Does That Work?
I'm often asked, "Why does Central Catholic do that?" or "How does that work?" Think of this section as a way of getting you and your student a bit more ready for Central Catholic and our traditions. We'll cover different topics each week so stay tuned.

New student registration is an exciting time for you and for us. For you, it's the beginning of a new chapter in your student's life and for us it is a honor that you chose to entrust your student to us for the next four years.

Where Is The Registration Form? Our registration form is available here. You can fill it out on your computer then print it out for signatures OR print the blank form and fill it out by hand.

When Can We Register? New Student Registration begins with a bang on Monday and Tuesday, March 6 and 7. We are open from 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. both days. You can walk in without an appointment between 7:30 - 3:30 or you can schedule an appointment between 3:30 - 7:30.

What Do We Bring To Registration? Bring your registration form and a check for our commitment fee of $275 to registration. If your student does not attend one of our Partner Schools, you will also need to bring a transcript from the current school.

Who Are We Meeting With During Registration? You'll start by turning in your signed registration form and commitment fee at the front desk (we have a Notary Public to take care of signatures). You'll then meet with one of our Counselors to determine what classes your student will take in the fall. The Counselors will use current grades and results from the High School Placement Test to determine a preliminary roster of classes. They will go over there suggestions with you and you will have opportunity for input. Once you leave the counselor's office, you'll have a plan for the coming school year.

Can My Student Join Me For Registration? This is completely up to you. If you are comfortable talking with the Counselor about your student's grades and learning potential, then bring your your student. If you'd prefer a more private conversation, we can do that as well. Most families bring the student, but it truly is your choice.

What If We Are Applying for Financial Assistance? To apply for financial assistance, including thSpalding Scholarship from the Diocese of Peoria, thFACTS Grant and Aid form must be submitted by March 15. You must also be registered by May 1 as assistance can only be given to registered families. In addition to filling out the FACTS Grant and Aid form, contact your Pastor to see if there is any additional assistance your parish can provide (Please note that every Central Catholic family in our Partner Parishes already receives assistance that bridges the gap between our non-affiliated and affiliated tuition rates.)

What Happens After Registration? When you leave Central Catholic after registration, you and your student are members of our Saints Family! You will begin to receive additional information that only registered families receive and including information about summer athletic team schedules.

As I wrote earlier, this is an exciting time - enjoy it! I truly hope you already feel welcome in our school and that registration can be like reconnecting with friends. I'm probably more excited than anyone because it has been such a fun experience meeting and getting to know so many of you and your families.

If your question is not answered above or if you need additional information, call/text me at 533-2200 and we'll figure it out together.

Why Should Your Family Choose
Central Catholic?
In this edition, I'll let our students do the talking . . .

“There has never been a moment in my four years that I have not felt like I am at home. This school has prepared me tremendously for my life both spiritually and mentally. Having a chapel and spiritually intelligent teachers available to me 24/7, has allowed me to grow closer to God and become the Catholic I have always wanted to be.”
 -Julia Nelson, Class of 2017

“I am able to grow both in faith and academics with other students who share the same goal as me: to strengthen my relationship with God while receiving a well-rounded education that will prepare me for life and college.”
-Claire Swanson, Class of 2018

“At Central Catholic, we are all a part of a family that makes us this great community. Everyone here gets along and it feels good to know that you always have people there to support you.”
-Kaitlyn Klepec, Class of 2019

“Being a part of the Central Catholic family means I will grow in my spiritual life through prayer, become academically prepared for college and beyond, and meet new people who will become friends for my whole life.”
-Dillon Manness, Class of 2019
