Certain Departments/Divisions at City Hall Temporarily Closed

The City of Delray Beach has advised that certain departments and divisions in City Hall will be closed for the remainder of today, Monday, October 10, 2016, due to excessive heat.  The main chiller for the building's air conditioning (a/c) unit was damaged during Hurricane Matthew and sections of the building are without a/c.

The City's contractor for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems has determined that repairs cannot be made at this time.  As a result, please note the following:

Since certain facilities and sections of City Hall are on separate a/c units which are fully operational,  there will be no interruption in service for Community Improvement, and the Planning, Zoning and Building Department.  These departments/divisions will continue business as usual throughout today, Monday, October 10.

Limited staff from the Utility Billing Customer Service Department have been relocated to the Planning, Zoning and Building Department.  New accounts will be processed until 2pm, and water payments will be accepted until 4:30pm today, Monday, October 10, 2016.

Departments and divisions that are closed today, Monday, October 10, are:
- City Clerk's Office
- City Manager's Office
- Finance Department
- Human Resources Department
- Purchasing Department

City staff who are impacted by the lack of a/c but able to work in a section of City Hall that is air conditioned have been relocated to a different section of the building.  Those who are unable to relocate but can work remotely from home will do so.

It is anticipated that repairs to the air conditioning unit in City Hall will be completed by 8am on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  Should conditions change, the public will be advised accordingly.

The City appreciates the public's cooperation and patience during this time.  For more information, call the City of Delray Beach at (561) 243-7190.
