HPCC Sponsors the HPNA Clinical Practice Forum
Event Takes Place September 14-16, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA

HPCC is once again happy to sponsor this year's Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) Clinical Practice Forum. The 11th annual version of this popular event takes place from Thursday, September 14 through Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.

This year's forum is highlighted by the opening plenary speaker, award winning journalist and author Suzanne Gordon, as well as sessions on topics like "caring for the caregiver," embracing truthfulness in hospice and palliative care nursing, and what the evidence shows when looking at end-of-life dreams. Discussions include the recent Palliative Nursing Summit, HPNA-ANA Call for Action, and updates to the Measuring What Matters project.   Follow the link for the complete schedule and a full listing of courses.

For those looking to recertify through the Hospice and Palliative Accrual for Recertification (HPAR) process, this forum offers 13.0 hours of continuing nursing education (CNE), which can grow to 20.0 hours by adding a day of preconferences. This conference is a quick way to grab those needed hours.

Registration is now available online, by clicking on the link. Find out more information about the event including ways to save by clicking the link below.

HPCC Recertification Process

All HPCC certifications are valid for a four-year period.  If you are due to renew your certification, visit the HPCC web site at www.goHPCC.org and choose Certification and your credential and then Recertification, to learn about your renewal requirements and options for renewal.  Please note that various enhancements of professional development activities have been incorporated in the Hospice and Palliative Accrual for Recertification (HPAR) process, that will provide  more opportunities for testers to demonstrate their continuing competence.

All HPAR submissions whether online or paper have a due date of eight (8) weeks prior to the date of expiration of certification for the standard fee.  After that an additional fee is charged. Deadlines for 2017 recertifications are quickly approaching so be sure to review the Web site for requirements and fees as soon as possible.
Reactivation of HPCC Credentials for
ACHPNs, CHPNs, and CHPPNs

ACHPN, CHPN, and CHPPN candidates who missed the deadline for recertification beginning in December of 2015 and who meet the requirements for reactivation may use the HPAR process for reactiviation according to individualized adjustments for dates of submission. Reactivation will be available for three years after the expiration of your credential.

Nurses may not use the credential after it expires, but may use it again after being notified that their certification has been reactivated. Reactivation is not retroactive and the certification period will begin when notified and continue for four years from that date. Certificants interested in pursuing the reactivation process must notify HPCC by phone at 412-787-1057 or by email at hpcc@gohpcc.org of their intention to reactivate.
