FEATURED EVENT
New Member Potlucks Are Back!
ChaiVillageLA welcomes Esther Krisman as our New Member Potluck Coordinator ! A new member herself, Esther was eager to get involved at ChaiVillageLA and thought this role would be a good place to start.

At ChaiVillageLA, we love to welcome our new members into the community with food! If you are a new member or haven’t been to a New Member Potluck yet, consider attending this meal. These intimate gatherings are hosted at a ChaiVillageLA member’s home and feature delicious food and lively conversation with other new friends. Prepare a dish to share and meet members from both temples!

Interested in signing up? Click here to give your date preferences and to let us know if you have any food or mobility restrictions.  If you already responded to the email we sent to all members who joined since April 1st, you don’t need to do so again.   In early October, Esther will get back to you with a confirmation as to which date and host you’ve been assigned.

Have questions? Email Esther Krisman at [email protected] . Esther will be out of the country until the end of September so she will respond at that time. In the meantime, if you need help with link, contact Devorah at (310) 592-0321.

Terry Pullan with some of the many items donated for
the PATH move-in this Saturday
Dear Friends,

I want to thank all the members of ChaiVillageLA who pitched in to donate items that will make an apartment a home for a mom and her four children. Because of the great support from our Village we were able to fill the order for all of the items requested by the family. I look forward to joining with other Villagers this coming Saturday when we will take everything to the family and help them set-up their new home.

Revealing complexities on--and off–-the island, Cuba Is explores aspects of Cuba not easily accessed by foreigners--and sometimes not even by Cubans themselves. Born from indigenous African and European roots, divergent politics and limitations in communication and commerce, the Cuba seen in this exhibition goes beyond the folklore and offers new insight into its current reality. Over 120 photos feature subjects ranging from defiant youth known as “Frikis” to the hard-partying children of the 1%, the underground system of sharing digital content–-“El paquete”–-to Miami’s Chonga girls.

Join other Village members as they tour this new photograph exhibit. An impromptu lunch will follow for those interested.
Parking can be accessed from Constellation Boulevard or Olympic Boulevard. There is a $3.50 parking fee for three (3) hours. Validation is required so please bring your parking garage ticket with you in order to have it validated. Validation is not provided for valet parking.

ChaiVillageLA has reserved 25 no-charge tickets for a docent-led tour of LA's newest art museum, the Marciano Art Foundation.

Established by art collectors Maurice and Paul Marciano, and located in the former Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Wilshire Boulevard, the museum features "works by well-established, mid-career, and emerging artists, predominantly from 1900 to the present."

Our group will gather at 1:45 PM sharp at the sculpture garden outside of the main entrance on Lucerne Boulevard. The tour will end at approximately 3:00 PM.

OUR MISSION
The vast majority of adults want to remain in their homes and neighborhoods as they get older, but sometimes this takes a supportive community. ChaiVillageLA is a vibrant, multi-synagogue, multi-generational community that enables congregants to age in place in their own homes by providing assistance to one another and enriching each other’s lives, as part of a self-governing village supported by Jewish values.
