FEATURED NEW SERIES
iEngage Series on Israel Begins December 10

iEngage creates a new narrative regarding the significance of Israel for Jewish life; it is a unique and and compelling series created by the world-renowned Hartman Institute of Jerusalem. Rabbi Donniel Hartman and his colleagues present thought provoking video lectures on how age old Jewish values can have an enduring and surprising effect on the peace process. Following each lecture, there will be ample time for discussion. Live conversations will also be included, such as the opening event with Rabbi Uri Regev on Sunday, December 10th at 4:00 PM.

Rabbi Uri Regev is a lawyer and rabbi of the Reform movement of Judaism in Israel, and an active civil rights and religious pluralism advocate. Currently he serves as the President and CEO of “Hiddush – For Freedom of Religion and Equality”, a trans-denominational non-profit organization aimed at promoting religious freedom and equality in Israel, a partnership between Israeli Jews and World Jewry, founded in 2009. Rabbi Regev is here from Jerusalem for a limited time.

ChaiVillageLA member, Connie Bennett, has generously offered to host each session in her home. Space is limited to 20 participants for each session.

Additional classes will be the second Sunday of the month through June except for May.

Visual Literacy and the Art of Photography - Part 1 of 4
Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Temple Emanuel - Conference Room
8844 Burton Way, Beverly Hills
Photographs are all around us, yet there is very little sense of visual literacy, particularly outside of artists' circles. This 4-part course, taught by Bill Aron, will teach us not only how to recognize the elements of an impactful photograph, but also how to make a photograph that is even more interesting than the object being photographed. We will apply these principles to photographing life around us.

Dates are: November 14, 21, 28 and December 5

Pegi is not a portfolio manager nor a financial analyst but a financial coach guiding people out of their financial haze into clarity.

*Note: this class is for WOMEN ONLY and space is limited to 12 participants.
ChaiVillageLA General Orientation/Training Workshop
Sunday, November 19, 2017

Training Session - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Home of Barbara Weinstock
332 S. Linden Drive, Beverly Hills 90212
ChaiVillageLA’s General Orientation/Training Workshops are resuming as we’ve had over 30 new members join since April! The session, led by Sandy Silas and Janet Noah, will cover policy issues, protocols, confidentiality, boundary issues, etc. related to interacting with other members and/or having access to member information (e.g. if you are on a committee or coordinating an event).

Even if you aren't planning to help in these ways right now, we would like everyone to attend a training as it will also provide an orientation to our Village and our website.  You must complete a quick online background check prior to attending the training and we can help you do in just 10 minutes.

If you would rather register by phone, or have any questions, contact Devorah Servi at [email protected] or (310) 592-0321.

OUR MISSION
The vast majority of adults want to remain in their homes and neighborhoods as they get older, but sometimes this takes a supportive community. ChaiVillageLA is a vibrant, multi-synagogue, multi-generational community that enables congregants to age in place in their own homes by providing assistance to one another and enriching each other’s lives, as part of a self-governing village supported by Jewish values.
