Have a great story and lessons learned to share with Temple Emanuel Religious School students? Come to a fun storytelling workshop to practice before you actually book a session with our storyteller/videographer, Carl Weintraub.

The storytelling workshop will encourage participants to get deep into their own stories. We will determine where stories begin, where stories end, and how we get from the beginning to the end. We will play with the description of characters. We will examine our preconceptions and how to incorporate the element of surprise and suspense into the telling of our stories.

This workshop will be led by Carl Weintraub. He founded We Tell Stories, a story-type theatre company that has been performing across America since 1981. Carl also co-produces and curates BackStory, a bi-monthly storytelling series at the Victory Theatre in Burbank.

Sukkot 5778 - Shake your Lulav!
Sunday, October 8, 2017, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
At a sukkah near you!
This year, truly celebrate the holiday of Sukkot. It is the time immediately after the High Holidays when we refocus our thoughts from the heights of heaven to the reality of the earth. A time when we are aware of others, when we as a ChaiVillageLA community can share what we have.

With the help of young adults from Moishe House, you can have a sukkah built in your own backyard, on your rooftop or patio. Plans and information on the supplies you will need to purchase will be provided to you, and a date will be selected for your sukkah construction. Please contact Julie Grass for more information at (310) 729-0215 or julieccgrass@gmail.com.

Whether you have a sukkah or not, you can celebrate with a brunch on Sunday, October 8th. Open up your home or sukkah, or be a guest at another Villager’s home. Contact Susan Levine at (561) 309-4144 or susanlevine3@me.com if you interested in hosting or being hosted.

Special thanks to our very own Ralph Allen, a retired architect and the creator of our sukkah design! It is light, easy to store and something you will treasure year after year.

OUR MISSION
The vast majority of adults want to remain in their homes and neighborhoods as they get older, but sometimes this takes a supportive community. ChaiVillageLA is a vibrant, multi-synagogue, multi-generational community that enables congregants to age in place in their own homes by providing assistance to one another and enriching each other’s lives, as part of a self-governing village supported by Jewish values.
