It is with great sadness that we inform you that our ChaiVillageLA founder and dear friend Richard Siegel passed away on July 12. After a few years of fighting cancer, his condition worsened this week and he passed away peacefully surrounded by family and close friends. Our thoughts are with Richard's wife, Rabbi Laura Geller, their children, and their family during this difficult time.

UPDATED FUNERAL AND SHIVA INFORMATION:
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 15 at 1:00 PM at the Corwin Family Sanctuary at Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills (300 N. Clark Drive, Beverly Hills 90211).
The service will be followed by a graveside ceremony at Mt. Sinai Simi Valley (6150 Mount Sinai Drive, Simi Valley 93063).
Please note that this is updated information on the location of Shiva:
Shiva will be held at Laura and Richard's home (10552 Putney Road, LA 90064) beginning on Sunday, July 15 at 8 PM as well as Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19 at 7:30 PM. For those with concerns about climbing stairs, an outside chairlift is available.

Executive Committee Member Stepping Down
ChaiVillageLA is deeply grateful to Ellen Isaacs, who was involved in the shaping of the village from its earliest days. In our earliest days, Ellen co-chaired the Research and External Networking Committees and, once the village was established, served as Co-Vice Chair and Co-Chair. Ellen made many valuable contributions in the area of strategic planning, the legal arena, grant-writing, community events and much more.

Amanda Collin, who is now serving as the ChaiVillageLA Health Program Intern, grew up in London and later lived in Israel. She is the HR Manager and Executive Assistant to the Executive Director at Temple Emanuel. Amanda just graduated CSUN with a BS in Public Health. She is finishing her degree by serving as a ChaiVillage Intern for two months.

ChaiVillageLA is getting good press! Thanks to village member and public relations expert Barbara Meltzer, our 2nd Anniversary Celebration was covered in LA area publications including the Jewish Journal. Thanks also to village member and professional photographer Barry Levine for his great shots.

VOTER REGISTRATION TRAINING: ChaiVillageLA members gathered at the home of Idelle and Peter Davidson to attend a training by the League of Women Voters. According to Idelle, the organizer of the event, "I think we now have the tools to register and encourage more people to vote in November and in 2020."

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD'S NEWS: ChaiVillagers packed the room, eager to share their views and make sense of the latest world news. Many thanks to member Myrna Hant for her excellent moderating skills.
