OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The vast majority of Americans want to remain in their homes and neighborhoods as they get older, but sometimes this takes a supportive community. ChaiVillageLA is a multi-synagogue, multi-generational community that enables congregants to age in place in their own homes by providing assistance to one another and enriching each other’s lives as part of a self-governing village supported by Jewish values.
NEW INTEREST GROUP FOR MEMBERS 80+
In the true spirit of stepping up and making things happen at ChaiVillageLA, I am happy to announce the launching of an Interest Group for members who are 80 years old or older.  The origin of this interest group was some feedback I received from Renee Cronenwalt and Barbara Weinstock regarding their experiences as older members of the village.  This feedback was very constructive  and we are excited to experiment with an age-based interest group.  Participation in our interest groups is voluntary.   – Devorah Servi

Are you 80 or older and looking for a regularly meeting group of new friends?  The purpose of the 80+ Interest Group is to get to know each other better through conversation and activities of our choosing.  We will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.

If you are interested in coming to an informational meeting about this interest group, RSVP to Renee Cronenwalt at (310) 474-9409.  The meeting date will be scheduled after we hear from you!
RECENT EVENTS
Understanding the World’s News
by Wendy Plottel

We had a lively discussion. Myrna brought a few articles to our attention and we were able to respond. She has a wide range of knowledge and stimulated us to look further into the articles. We discussed an article from New York Magazine by Frank Rich that compared Nixon and Watergate in 1973 to Trump and what's going on today. We also discussed a New York Times article on the Constitution, amendments and Articles. Health care was a lively topic of discussion. We then segued into an article by the Israeli, Harani on Artificial Intelligence; North Korea and Farid Zakaria, a CNN commentator. Most attendees had something to add throughout the discussion.

JOB OPPORTUNITY
Temple Isaiah Religious School Office Position

Rabbi Zoë Klein of Temple Isaiah is looking for someone to work in the Religious School Office from 4:30 to 8:00 PM every Tuesday that school is in session. The job would include helping parents who have questions or need to take their child home early, receiving phone calls and deliveries, helping teachers locate supplies and being a kind presence for kids who have to be in the office who may not be feeling well, or who are acting out. Essentially, you would help hold the office-fort together while the religious school fills the temple with noise and activity. Very basic computer skills would be helpful for looking up room numbers.

Please email Rabbi Zoë at [email protected] if you are interested!
