Health Promotion Classes Sponsored by Partners in Care Foundation
By Devorah Servi
I just wanted to extend a special thanks to those of you who attended our first evidence-based health promotion class. The four-session UCLA Memory Training Class was a big success as members learned strategies for remembering names, people and things. Just as important as the practical tools and approaches, was the personal sharing of what it feels like to face and accept memory challenges as gracefully as possible. I heard from people who ended up getting together outside of class with new friends and others who reported feeling closer to the ones they already knew.
Thanks to the leadership of Health Program Co-Coordinators, Susan and Ilan Tamir, you can look forward to many more practical classes on subjects such as Balance, Being Your Own Best Patient Advocate, Advanced Directives, and more. Stay tuned and healthy!

80’s & 90’s Interest Group Planning Meeting
By Devorah Servi
Did you know that ChaiVillageLA has 40 members aged 80 and above?
This week, Kelsey and I had the pleasure of meeting in Renee Cronenwalt’s home with Renee, Sylvia Price and Bella Desser. Kelsey and I learned a lot about the interests and unique situations of some of our older and wiser members. Barbara Weinstock and Stella Feuer also contributed energy and ideas, though they were unable to attend the meeting. Bella suggested that we offer a Balance class as a first series event so we are looking into it! If you have ideas or want to get more involved with this new Interest Group, please contact Devorah Servi at (310) 592-0321.

Participating ChaiVillageLA members are Joel and Susan Levine, Marsha Rosenberg, Dr. Ruth Weisberg and Diane Vanette.
Based on the book, Wise Aging: Living With Joy, Resilience and Spirit, by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal, Temple Emanuel has had an ongoing study/discussion group led by Diane Vanette that touches on the many facets of leading a full and vibrant life, regardless of age.
