The Yankton Chamber of Commerce Ambassador committee is hard at work getting ready for the Annual Golf Day.  This year's event will be at the Fox Run Golf Course Friday, August 25 with a shotgun start at 12 noon. The Ambassador's will be contacting Chamber members for prize donations in the next couple weeks.  Dinner will follow golfing at the Elks Lodge. Fireball Run is coming to town
Have you checked out Unclaimed Freight Furniture and One Office Solution storefronts?? They look awesome! They must be getting ready to look good for camera when Fireball Run comes to town in September. Who else is stepping up to the challenge to look good?  You could be on film and be on the Amazon Prime program, "Fireball Run - Big Country."
  Leadership Yankton 2017 Graduates! 
During their 4th week, the Leadership Yankton class met with Matt Winsand from Dakota Plains Ag Center, LLC, Lindsay Flannery from Avera Sacred Heart, Shawn Brock from Hastings Manufacturing, Rob Stephenson from First Dakota National Bank and Tabitha Likness from Onward Yankton shared with the class an overview of their individual business sectors.  Agriculture, manufacturing, health, finance and entrepreneurship were all discussed.  The class then toured Applied Engineering.

Week 5, the class heard from Dan Specht, a broker with Vision Real Estate, about housing; Rita Nelson, Workforce Development Coordinator, YAPG about job market in Yankton; Lauren Hanson, Director of the United Way, about non-profit organizations; and Lacey Johnson with SD Department of Labor about the jobs in Yankton.  Eric Ambroson from Planning and Development District III worked with the class to develop their class project.

The Leadership Yankton 2017 class held their graduation ceremony Thursday, August 3 at The Sandbox.  Fifteen students received their certificates at the ceremony.

Needed: Women in business to fill out profiles

National Women in Business week is October 16-20. The Chamber of Commerce and the Sandbox are partnering to bring Nancy Lyons, owner and CEO of Clockwork, author, entrepreneur and speaker to Yankton.  The event will be held on October 20, 9 a.m at Hillcrest Country and Golf Course.  The Chamber is collecting profiles from women owned businesses to help promote during the week.   Click here for profile

Seeking Volunteers 


The Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau are actively seeking volunteers to assist with the activities and logistics during the two day Live Production for Fireball Run that will be taking place in Yankton!  


Volunteers will be assisting with items such as (but not limited to): 

  • Parking Guides 
  • Check In Tables 
  • Assistance with Equipment 
  • Boat Operators
  • Photographers/Videographers/Drone Operators
  • Field Coordinators 
  • Runners & Assistants   


We are also hoping to have a LARGE crowd at the starting line, on 2nd and Walnut, from 7am - 9:30am on September 29 to send off the Fireballers, cheer on Team Yankton and showcase the vibrancy and energy of our community.


We have already requested assistance from Yankton Public Schools, Mt. Marty College as well as other civic organizations but the more the merrier, so please consider this your invitation to join in on the festivities.

Jake Hoffner and Chris Hilson will be taking the journey of a lifetime in season 11 of The Fireball Run set to kick off in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on September 22 and wrap up in Rapid City, South Dakota on October 1.
