When you become a member of the chamber, your investment, combined with that of other chamber members, funds programs and services that provide resources and assistance to new and existing businesses that are ready to grow, create new jobs and invest in our community.

This kind of growth results in more dollars flowing through our local economy in the form of consumer and business-to-business purchases. In other words – more potential customers for your business. A strong local economy means better business for everyone. Your investment in the chamber helps make that happen. It’s your membership…own it!

Question : “ When is turnover worth it?"

Answer : When the job market is tight and qualified people are hard to find, it is sometimes difficult for front-line managers to hold their people to strict performance, attendance, safety and other expectations. However, once employees find a manager who feels his/her hands are tied because qualified replacements are hard to find, some employees will take advantage of the situation. The best performers suffer most when this happens. They have to make up for the inadequacies of the bottom few.

If poor performance appears to be ignored by management for very long, one of two things will likely happen: the best performers will gravitate to the lowest level of acceptable performance or they will leave the job. Either way, people’s opinion of the effectiveness of the management team is diminished, and that word will spread making the finding and hiring of good people even more difficult.

On the other hand, when management holds everyone to clearly communicated expectations, a level of respect for management tends to prevail. Good people like to work where everyone pulls their weight, especially management. Got a poor performer or two in the group? Get them on a plan to improve or tell them to find employment elsewhere. Your people are watching!
