Annual Celebration Coming January 20
We've never been more excited for the Chamber's  Annual Celebration ! Mark your calendars for Friday, January 20, 2017 for this can't miss event at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa celebrating the region's business community.
The Chamber Board this week received a sneak peek from Allison Beers and her staff at Events North on some of the new features for this year's event. They include:
  • Live entertainment during the evening.
  • A seated presentation for our annual Distinguished Service Award ceremony.
  • A revamped event layout for better access to food and beverages, and improved interaction among the guests for networking and socializing.
  • A post-event reception at the Aerie Lounge atop the resort.
While our friends at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan will continue to be the primary event sponsor, there are numerous other opportunities to  highlight your business to the hundreds of attendees at the Annual Celebration through other sponsorship opportunities. Those include beverage sponsors, reserved tables and more. Click here to learn more about sponsorship opportunities. Don't delay as the sponsorship deadline is December 16.
Invitations will be mailed out in early December, when registration will also open on the Chamber's website. Follow the Chamber Bulletin for registration details.

Chamber Ramps Up Advocacy Efforts
The benefits of membership in the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce extend well beyond our outstanding events, professional development programs and widespread connection opportunities. Our region's entire business community benefits from the legislative advocacy efforts of the Chamber and the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance.
Chamber/Alliance Government Relations Director Kent Wood is among Lansing's most knowledgeable and best-c onnected legislative liaisons, with years of experience in the state Capital. He also works on national issues through the Chamber's involvement with the Great Lakes Metro Chambers Coalition. The Chamber also creates local connection opportunities through events like the Alliance Speaker Series and our quarterly Pints & Politics events.

City to Fill Partial Commission Term
Applications are being accepted for the City Commission in Traverse City to fill a vacancy left by former Mayor Pro Tem Ross Richardson to serve through the city elections in November 2017. Eligible applicants must be a registered voter in the city for 30 consecutive days and not be past due on amounts owed to the City, according to City Clerk Benjamin Marentette.

The City Commission functions as the City's legislative body, essentially functioning as the board of directors for City government. For more information on the functions of the City Commission, click here.

This is a tremendous opportunity to serve the community in a responsible position that sets far-reaching policy, including adoption of the City budget, that has an impact throughout the region and State of Michigan.

Letters of interest with accompanying resume must be received by the City Clerk by  5 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016.
