Manufacturers Face PPT Filing Deadline
Area manufacturers have until May 31 to file their 2016 Personal Property Tax (PPT) exemptions with their local assessing office. Many manufacturers missed the original February deadline or filed incomplete forms, although Gov. Rick Snyder recently signed legislation to extend the filing deadline to May 31. Manufacturers can potentially save thousands of dollars by submitting their Form 5278 to their local assessors, following changes to Michigan's PPT law passed by state voters in 2014.

Click here to access Form 5278 from the state Department of Treasury. You can also access a PPT Savings Tool Kit provided by the Michigan Manufacturers Association with information on forms, upcoming deadlines and related resources.

Setting the PACE at Business After Hours
Chamber members can get a first-hand look at the latest innovation in senior care at the next Business After Hours event coming up next Wednesday, May 18. Grand Traverse Pavilions will host next week's BAH at its new PACE facility located at 2325 N. Garfield Road - the former Grand Traverse County Health Department building.

PACE stands for "Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly" and is a program that primarily serves low-income seniors dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.  It uses an interdisciplinary team approach with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, case managers and other health care professionals to develop effective care plans and services for patients and families. With our region's growing senior population, these services will be critical for our community going forward.

Renovations will begin soon and the new PACE center is slated to open in 2017. Check out the new facility and see what the Grand Traverse Pavilions has planned there when we gather next Wednesday from 5 - 7 p.m. Of course we'll have all the usual BAH fun, refreshments, prizes and networking opportunities, so you won't want to miss is. Register here.
