Holman, Hubbard Headline Economic Outlook Breakfast
Two of Michigan's top experts on business and governance will highlight the Chamber's 2016 Economic Outlook Breakfast coming up November 8 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. Chris Holman of the Michigan Business Network and Sarah Hubbard of Acuitas will be featured in a panel discussion moderated by TraverseCONNECT CEO Doug Luciani. It's an important election year in Michigan and across the country, and Holman and Hubbard will talk about how the political landscape is shaping up and how that impacts the business sector across Northern Michigan.

Registration is open for the 2016 Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo coming up November 8 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.

The Chamber Business Expo is the region's largest business showcase that annually draws more than 140 exhibitors and over 1,300 attendees to the resort's Governor's Hall.  It's a tremendous opportunity to highlight your company's products, services, personnel and more at this large-scale networking and promotional event. Booths are $500 for Chamber members and $800 for non-members.

Alliance Speaker Series Returns Next Week
One of the top experts on Michigan's natural resources and environment headlines the return of the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance Speakers Series. Keith Creagh, who served as interim director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality who's returning to his role as head of the state Department of Natural Resources, will be the Alliance guest speaker on Thursday, September 15, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Traverse City Golf & Country Club.

Register now for this luncheon program with Director Creagh, who's also a former director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Creagh has extensive insight on state policy issues that impact our region's great outdoors, and area business and civic leaders won't want to miss this informative program that's free to Chamber members and businesses within the Chamber Alliance.

YPs Launch L.I.F.E. Mentoring Program
The Chamber's Young Professionals launched a new mentoring program in conjunction with the Northwest Michigan Chapter of Junior Achievement USA to help local students build professional skills and start exploring career opportunities.

The Lessons in Future Endeavors (L.I.F.E.) mentoring program will feature hands-on activities and skill building opportunities with members of the Chamber's Young Professionals program to mentor area high school students in grades 9 - 12 in areas including time management, career paths, job interviewing and more.

We've picked a new place for an old favorite - the Chamber's Business After Hours gathering returns from its summer hiatus a week from tonight as we visit the new Hotel Indigo in downtown Traverse City.

Join us from 5 - 7 p.m. on September 14 as we light up the downtown's Warehouse District with the region's original after-hours business networking event. Hotel Indigo is part of an amazing revival of this unique corner of downtown, along with the newly rebuilt Garland Street and other improvements. A "Miracle" at the Movies
We're excited to welcome a new presenter for next week's Leadership at the Movies program - Chamber board member and former Small Business of the Year owner Tammy Tarsa!

Tarsa, owner of Integrity Home Health & Skilled Care, will highlight the film Miracle at the September 15 event starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Bijou by the Bay Theatre across from the Chamber office. The film centers on the inspiring story the 1980 U.S. Men's Hockey Team that earned a gold medal against long odds.  Tarsa will analyze film clips to show how to build a great team with ordinary people, the importance of knowing your team and how trust and hard work can help it excel. These free programs are earning 4-star reviews with Chamber members and offer an inspiring and informative start to the work day.   Register here.

Businesses that fail to plan often plan to fail - and the next monthly SCORE can help you create a solid business plan.

"Steps to Savvy Business Planning" is the topic of the SCORE workshop happening this Tuesday, September 13, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Traverse Area District Library on Woodmere. Preparing a business plan is one of the first and most important steps for an entrepreneur. This free workshop will help you learn:
