Register for Kalkaska Luncheon
There's a lot happening in the community of Kalkaska. The Traverse City Area Chamber will host the annual Kalkaska Luncheon coming up April 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kalkaska Church of Christ. Consultants Mac McClelland and Woody Smith will present "A Framework for Growth and Investment in Kalkaska" to highlight the extensive research that's been done along the US-131 Corridor in and around Kalkaska, and what it means going forward for the business sector and the public.

Another highlight is the presentation of the Kalkaska Business and Citizen of the Year Awards, a community tradition for the past 45 years. Nominations for the 2016 recipients are needed by this Monday, April 4. Click here to register for the luncheon and to submit your nominations for the Kalkaska Business and Citizen of the Year.

Be Aware of OT Rule Changes
The U.S. Department of Labor is considering significant changes to labor regulations for "white-collar" employees who are exempt from federal overtime rules. These rule changes could have a significant impact on your business and its compensation costs. Excitement Builds for Small Business Celebration

The SBC judges' team will be visiting these companies in mid-April to get a closer look at their operations and meet their employees. After that the businesses and their leaders will be featured at the SBC's Meet the Top 10 Breakfast  coming up April 19 at 7:30 a.m. at NMC's Hagerty Center. The Hagerty Small Business of the Year will be unveiled at the   SBC Awards Ceremony   on May 4 at 4:30 p.m., also at NMC's Hagerty Center.

YPs Launch New 'Mixer' Event
The hits keep coming for the Chamber's Young Professionals. The YPs launch their latest 2016 event debut with the new YP Mixer coming up April 7 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Right Brain Brewery. YPs are invited to his new after-work networking event that includes drink specials and door prizes mixed with stimulating conversation and good company. Learn more.

The next two free SCORE workshops - coming up April 12 and May 10 - can help your business increase your presence on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The April workshop starts with the basics of social media while the event in May delves into more advanced techniques in using these platforms to promote your business.
