Chase News Update #2
The Sault Area Chamber Chase is inching closer with just 11 days remaining until race day. In anticipation of the event, we'll keep you informed of all things Chamber Chase with updates on the race and all the fun surrounding the event. Our second update includes information on trophies, a new and improved FAQ page, and an additional post-race activity to cheer about.
 A Unique Trophy for a Unique Course
The preliminary cuts for the Chamber Chase trophies have arrived and are almost ready to be won! The trophies, made in the shape of a steel I-beam from the International Bridge, serve as emblems of the Chase, a true representation of the local landmark that is the aesthetic focal point of our race. The top three runners in each event - 5K, Bridge Run, Half-Marathon, and Marathon - in each age category will receive a trophy.

Is the Chase a Boston Qualifier? What is the course like? Can I listen to my mp3 player? If you're like most runners, you probably have lots of questions about this year's race. Many of you are returning runners, but several of you are running the course for the first time. Whether a veteran of the Chase or just being introduced to it, we've got your questions covered at our recently updated FAQ Page. The answers to the questions above and more are all just a click away.
Lots to do After the Chase
In addition to spending time in downtown Sault Ste Marie for the 10th Annual Oktoberfest, Chase participants can cheer on the Soo Eagles Hockey Club for their home opening weekend vs Kalamazoo. You'll recognize this group of fine young men as they'll be serving as course marshals for this year's chase and cheering you on as you complete the course. Help return the favor by cheering them on at historical Pullar Stadium on Saturday night!
Expo, Meals, and Lodging
Don't forget to make plans to pick up your registration materials for the Chase from 4 - 9 pm in the Grand Island Room of Kewadin Casino on Friday, September 21. In addition to registering and collecting your race bib, there will be a large course map, additional race information, and race vendors.
Remember that there are also a couple of great pre-race meal options for you with local sponsors the Soo Locks Boat Tours and The Antler's Restaurant. The Soo Locks Boat Tours will offer Chamber Chase participants an opportunity to take part in a 1.5 to 2 hour boat cruise on the lower portion of the St. Mary's River on Friday, September 21 starting at 5:30 pm. For more information and to make reservations, please call 906-632-6301.
If you still need accommodations for this year's race, consider staying at the Chase Host Hotel, Kewadin Casino. As the host hotel, Kewadin Casino has a block of rooms reserved for Friday, September 21. Simply mention the "Chamber Chase" when making room reservations to receive the discounted rate of $78 per night plus $10 in free play in the casino. As a bonus feature, shuttle service to and from the race will be provided for guests at the hotel.
