Two transplanted Texans (Dallas/Ft.Worth), now living in beautiful Washington state smoking slow and low authentic Texas BBQ with mesquite wood in an "old school" bbq pit. With 35+ years of smok'in experience. They offer brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage, Hot Links (and Turkey Legs - seasonal).

And let's not forget to mention their mouth watering homemade side dishes of potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, pinto beans, sweet bbq beans and cornbread.

This is Texaxs bbq and sauce is "on the side". They offer 3 flavors: molasses base smokey sweet mesquite, or a traditional vinegar base mild or spicy.  So, if you're a transplanted Southerner or just a bbq lover, make sure you come by for your Real Texas BBQ fix on Hwy 2, just 1 mile east of Monroe.

Come out and get your bbq to go, eat at one of their scenic picnic tables or on our lunchroom bus!

Catering is also available.

A Huge Thank You!

We were asked to post this in the newsletter. This comes from Adrian Taylor about the surprise he received at the Chamber Luncheon in Feb.

"I was surprised, no, shocked to receive the recognition of my 84 years of life!  I was so filled with emotion that I could not blow out more than one candle at a time.  Thanks, you are great members of our Monroe Team."

Happy Birthday Adrian!

Monroe BlueDoor
What is Monroe BlueDoor?

Every year, BGCA does a Blue Door contest where Clubs are asked to decorate a door blue & submit their entry.  Winning clubs have the chance to win a $20,000 grant from Lowes & BGCA.  The Monroe Club is entering the contest, but taking the Blue Door a step further.  The Monroe BlueDoor is born.

Monroe BlueDoor is a new marketing campaign, currently only in the Monroe Club.  A door & frame were donated by the Monroe Lowe’s and painted by Club staff.  The concept is simple, the Blue Door symbolizes the possibilities for kids when they come to the Boys & Girls Club.  Monroe BlueDoor has it’s own Twitter handle and can be followed @Monroe BlueDoor.

The idea is that Monroe BlueDoor will make appearances at area businesses, festivals, events & other community gatherings.  It has already visited the Monroe Chamber of Commerce meeting.  Utilizing Twitter, we will work with businesses to host Monroe BlueDoor for a period of time (a week is suggested) and set up a scavenger hunt to go find Monroe BlueDoor.  Businesses that are Club supporters will be given priority of when Monroe BlueDoor will be available to them.  This is a nice way to help give back to our local supporters.

On Feb, 17 at 9 am we celebrated with Monroe B&G at Lowes the official kick-off of the Monroe BlueDoor.
