Summer Vacations - Planning For The Busy Season of Fall

I hope your summer is off to a great start! I know I am looking forward to celebrating the 4th and enjoying some time with my family over the summer. Don't forget that there are no Chamber events during the month of July - everyone needs a break, so please have fun on your vacations and trips! Internally, July is our planning month for the busy season of fall and we can't wait to show you all of the great things we have planned for you this year!
One of my favorite events of the fall is New Teacher Coffee, which will be held on August 7th this year. This event helps introduce new teachers and staff to the resources available here in our Plant City community. While this event helps acquaint new comers to our community, it also gives local businesses the opportunity to be involved in the education of children. We are now accepting donations for the teachers' "goodie bags" as well as sponsorship donations. Please
consider being involved
in this worthwhile event that has such a large impact on our local schools.
Another event that the team and I will be using July to plan for is the new Plant City Candidate Forum which will be held on August 21st at the Trinkle Center. This is the forum for Plant City residents to meet and mingle with the candidates running in the upcoming election at the local, state, and federal levels. We will have a straw poll as well as a meet & greet session with the candidates, more information about this new event is available

On Tuesday, May 5th, The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for City Pointe Church! “On January 31, 2016, Lead Pastor Scott McIntosh launched City Pointe Church here in Plant City. They are an interdenominational church whose heart is to reach the lost and serve the needs of Plant City. God has given them the unique mission to unite the tribes by encouraging local churches to come together. Their Sunday Service begins at 10am and they are located at 503 N. Palmer St., Plant City, FL 33563.”

On Thursday, June 7th The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the new location of Drawdy's Dance School at 111 S. Collins Street. From the owner, Amanda Drawdy: "We love dance, and we will teach you to love dance too. Our studio offers ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, tumbling, hip-hop and clogging for ages 2 & up. Starting this summer we will be offering private music lessons for guitar, piano, voice and many other instruments. My husband Nathan Drawdy is going to run our music department."

On Thursday, June 7th The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for new member Bikes For Christ! Bikes For Christ helps provide transportation in the form of bicycles for underprivileged kids; veterans who are trying to get back on their feet; or anyone that has a need and is trying to improve their situation. "Along with every bicycle we give, a Bible goes along with it, because we want the recipient to know that they are loved and we want them to know that Jesus loves them as well. We work primarily in Hillsborough County, but also cover parts of Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties. For some, having a bicycle is the difference between being able to put food on the table or not. Every child deserves a bike regardless of the circumstances they are born in to and we reserve our best bicycles for our veterans, because they have proudly served our great country."

On Tuesday, June 12th The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Taylor's Forklift Repair & Service! Taylor’s Forklift Repair and Service provides prompt on-site forklift repair to much of central and west Florida. They provide 24/7 service to their customers and have for over twenty years’ experience in the industry. Owners Kim and Robbie Taylor were both born and raised in the area and have been involved in forklift repair and service for nearly two decades. "At Taylor’s Forklift, we understand the urgency of your needs. When you call us during weekday business hours, we immediately dispatch one of our service staff to your location. In most cases, we’ll have a technician on the scene within two hours."

On Tuesday, June 12th The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for new member Kids Town Learning Center! Kids Town Learning Center provides unique, creative programs for children 0 – 12 years old. The children will be exposed to a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, socialization, large muscle group activities, and general learning. Kids Town Learning Center is located at 1108 Goldfinch Dr, Plant City, FL 33563. Kids Town Learning Center is open 6:30 am – 6:00 pm, weekend and after hours upon request.

Edge of the Razor Barbershop Inc.

On Thursday, June 14th The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Edge of the Razor Barbershop INC. Edge of the Razor Barbershop was founded on May 25th, 2017. This old school barbershop was founded to maintain the tradition of a gentlemen’s barber shop. "Our services focus on hair and beard cuts for men. We specialize in traditional, contemporary, and military haircuts and beard services such as shaving with straight edge razors and hot towels. We also offer hair and beard dye services.
We look forward to serving the area and benefiting our community as we grow our business."

On Tuesday, June 19th, The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Clayton Dermatology Group at their new location! They have been serving Plant City and the surrounding areas since 1987. Dr. Catherine Clayton and Dr. Erica Smithberger are both board-certified dermatologists. Their physician assistant, Ms. Amber Kelly also has 20 years of experience in dermatology. They offer medical dermatology services, including skin cancer treatment, as well as cosmetic services such as Botox, fillers, and micro-needling. Stop by their new office building at 2010 Thonotosassa Road.

As of June 1st, a new membership structure has been rolled out to all Plant City Chamber members. This new structure focuses on providing increased member value for you so that we can continue to foster an environment that is pro-business here in Plant City. On your renewal date, you will be sent a letter explaining the new investment structure in detail and the options available to you.
Instead of paying dues based on the number of employees you have, you will now be able to select a membership package, a la carte, based on the benefits that are important to you.
