LCA Meets New Civic Center Director, Ross Horner
Leadership Columbus Alumni had the opportunity to meet the new Civic Center Director, Ross Horner at their quarterly luncheon on March 27. Mr. Horner provided a brief overview of the state of the Civic Center and some changes that he is making. He is focused on not only looking for cost savings, but empowering his employees to provide better customer service. One such item he shared was his "Oops" token. This token is given to any event attendee who accidentally drops their food or beverage so that the food item can be replaced at no additional cost. It is evident that the Columbus Civic Center is going be better than ever under Mr. Horner.
The next LCA Luncheon will be May 2 at the Trade Center with Congressman Lynn Westmoreland as the guest speaker.

Transportation Sales Tax
A new sales tax to fund transportation projects, called the T-SPLOST, is up for a vote in the July 31st primary. The projects are expected to create 16,000 jobs from more than $594 million in revenue. Some of the projects in our region include widening Veterans Parkway from the are around Northside High School into Harris County and solving the traffic congestion along Buena Vista Road, commonly known as the spider web. Our Chamber is leading the campaign to pass the sales tax and will provide our members information as to why a "yes" vote will create jobs, relieve congestion and build transportation infrastructure for our future. Stay tuned! |
