Brian Cunningham earns prestigious certification
Coldwell Banker Commercial announced that Brian Cunningham, Senior Associate Broker, has achieved his Certified Commercial Investment Membership (CCIM) distinction. Cunningham joined The Mid-Atlantic CCIM Chapter along with 16 chapter members who recently earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, the global standard for professional achievement, from the CCIM Institute. Headquartered in Chicago, CCIM Institute is one of the largest commercial real estate networks worldwide. Cunnigham joins fellow CBC Elite co-workers Ben Keddie, Donny Self, Nick Calamos and Allison Graves who have all earned their CCIM designation to date.
Owner and founder of Fredericksburg.Today Susan Larson recently sold the online media site to Chris Muldrow. He is the CEO of Rambletype in Fredericksburg, a web design and hosting business.
The announcement was posted in a letter from Larson and Muldrow on the website today. She started the digital journalism site in 2012 providing locally-focused news and information. Muldrow will take over the site in May.
Larson has accepted a Library Director position at the Milton Public Library in Vermont.
Muldrow is an accomplished businessman, journalist, and webmaster.  " When Susan told me she was moving, though, I didn’t want to see Fredericksburg Today just shut down,"  Muldrow posted in a letter on Fredericksburg.Today. "I think there are a lot of ideas Susan never had a chance to try, and I’d like to make some of those happen." Read more.
March ushered in a strong spring selling season, posting significant increases in sold dollar volume and units sold. There was a total of $138,292,965 in sales for March, over 31% from 2016 levels.  Corresponding to increase in dollar volume was an over 26% increase in total units sold.  There were 466 units sold this March, 100 more than 2016 level of 369 homes sold. The median price was up 3.70% from 2016, increasing from $270,000 to $280,000 this March.  “Flowers weren’t the only thing to pop up early this year, the real estate market was in full bloom this March,” comments FAAR Board of Directors member Carrie Danko.
  Manufacturer could bring 200 jobs to Spotsylvania (FL-S)
An equipment manufacturer is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to Spotsylvania County in return for taxpayer incentives that could exceed $1 million. The Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve an incentive agreement with Universal Dynamics Inc., which will move its headquarters from Woodbridge to an 88,000-square-foot-facility at 11700 Shannon Drive. County Administrator Mark Taylor described the firm as a “company of innovators” that designs, manufactures, installs and services machines that “transform plastics into useful products” such as containers.

Construction has begun on the National Museum of the United States Army (FL-S)
Those driving on Fairfax County Parkway past Fort Belvoir will see the National Museum of the United States Army finally taking shape.The Army Corps of Engineers has begun site work on 84 acres at Fort Belvoir that will be the home of the museum, which is projected to open in late 2019. “This is very exciting and long overdue,” said Roger Schultz, retired lieutenant general and president of the Army Historical Foundation, which is in charge of raising private funds for construction of the museum.

The Radiology Business Management Association has distinguished Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg (MIF) for the best national use of digital media to promote their health scan program, featuring the power of early detection through Lung, Heart and Virtual Colonoscopies. The 2017 Quest Award, recognizes the importance of using digital media to inform patients and health care practitioners about medical imaging. MIF was awarded for digital marketing the theme: “There is power in knowing your weakness. Get a scan. Own your health.”

The annual Smiles With a Heart benefit hosted by Fredericksburg Smile Center will be on April 28 at 2330 Plank Road in Gateway. This benefit will provide free dental care for underprivileged patients in our community. The benefit gives $75,000 a year in free care in one day, producing over a half million dollars in free care back to the community.
