Message from the President |
Yesterday Scott Farwell of Tourism Prince Rupert shared an update about our local Tourism Industry. A few interesting facts I took away, in 2016 we saw 400,000 travelers come in via BC Ferries and 15,000 travelers from the Alaska Marine Highway System. Cruise has been on the upswing and we are expecting the greatest number of calls this year that we have seen in recent years. Some great news sport fishing continues to be a strong component for local tourism as does the Totem Circle Tour that takes travelers from Vancouver up to Prince George, West to Prince Rupert and then back down to Port Hardy and through Vancouver Island.
Scott also had a Call to Action for all of us. Let's make our downtown an inviting and attractive place for visitors and residents alike. What can we do as a community to improve downtown and support all of the businesses working hard to build a vibrant community? Have an idea? Want to be a part of improving the downtown core? Get in touch with our office by email [email protected] to let us know you want to be a part!
Sincerely,
Keith Lambourne
