2018 RUN FOR THE FALLEN

Sergeant Sammy Gonzalez's Ultra-Marathon Run from Fort Myers, Florida to Tallahassee, Florida

On April 26, 2018, Sergeant Sammy Gonzalez with the Lee County Sheriff's Office will depart the Sheriff's Office Headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida to travel on foot to the state capitol of Tallahassee, Florida in an effort to raise money for families of fallen law enforcement officers. This 390 mile trek will lead him to Tallahassee in time for the annual Florida Sheriff's Association Law Enforcement Memorial, celebrating the lives of those lost in the line of duty and honoring their sacrifices.
Each year, between 140 and 160 police officers are killed in the line of duty. Right now there are 21,183 names engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) supports these families in the aftermath of tragedy by providing resources to help them rebuild their shattered lives.

The death of any law enforcement officer in the line of duty is tragic. Even more devastating is the impact that loss has on the children and family of the fallen hero. Every officer has identified, acknowledged, and undertaken the inherent risk the job demands. They selflessly answer the call to duty for their community.
Sergeant Sammy Gonzalez will set out on this amazing expedition to bring awareness and generate funds for this worthy cause. The exhausting run will culminate with a hand-delivered donation to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a 501c3 organization that provides resources for comfort and support to families of fallen officers.
Sammy and his team have set a fundraising goal of $50,000 dollars before April 26, 2018. His vision is inspirational and his goal achievable with the generous support of the community. Donors will be recognized with their business logo printed on the back of the shirts Sammy and the team will wear during this inspirational journey. In addition, Sponsors will be positively identified via social media.

Please consider supporting this worthy cause.
