businesses and nonprofits before presenting their
prestigious Corporate Citizen of the Year (WKVT) and Person of the Year (the Reformer Stocking Board) at the Retreat Education Conference Center. Chamber President Vickie Case acknowledged BCTV's 40th anniversary with these words:
In 1976 the town of Brattleboro created an advisory board to establish a public access entity. That board eventually became the Board of Directors of Brattleboro Community Television, the non-profit organization created to administer public access in Brattleboro. BCTV was granted channel 8 on the cable system, and became the first PEG access channel in Vermont. BCTV was registered as a nonprofit in the State of Vermont in 1988.BCTV produces local programming, including municipal meeting coverage, for Channels 8 and 10, as well as providing public access services that make it possible for local residents to create and submit their own programs.

Board and staff members collected the certificate and (of course) also recorded the event, with Joe Bushey on camera. We are proud to have served this community for 40 years from the heart of downtown Brattleboro, and could not have done it without the support and hard work of board members, producers, viewers and sponsors!
