Therapeutic Recreation

The Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities is hosting their 8th Annual Fun Run in honor of Disability Awareness Month on Friday, February 27th from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.! There will be a fun run, crafts, dancing, hot dogs and a whole lot more! Please RSVP to Collette Prather at 480-782-2709 by February 24th.

Preschool Classes & Activities

Visit the Bug Zoo! On Friday, February 20, from 10-10:45 a.m explore a real, live collection of bugs with a certified entomologist. Learn about beneficial bugs, such as butterflies, ladybugs and bees. Discover interesting insects and other creepy-crawlies! For ages 3-6 years. Pre-registration required.

Youth Classes & Activities

Ready for a unique cooking experience? Join the Environmental Education Center for an Outdoor Pizza Party on Thursday, February 12th from 4:30-6 p.m. Participants will assist in cooking pizza in Dutch ovens. Once the pizza is done it's time to enjoy a slice and watch a movie. For ages 9 years and up. Pre-registration required.

Teen Classes & Activities

Each year more than 40 million Americans are victimized at home, at school, or on the street. Arm yourself with self-defense!

The Community Center is offering a course in Aikido, a Japanese defensive martial art, from February 3-25 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. This class teaches basic fundamentals to advanced motions and philosophies of Aikido, which are defensive in nature but provide options for varying degrees of intensity. This class is for ages 14-17 years. Pre-registration required.

Adult Classes & Activities

Looking for some fun, adventure and fresh air? If so, join us on February 14 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. for an easy and enjoyable 2.5 mile hike in scenic Papago Park, with excellent views of the Phoenix Metro Area. Bring water, hat, and sunscreen. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome. This activity is for adults, ages 18 and up.
