A Word From Rev. Leslie Smith
I always look forward to our Annual "Making Change Happen! Fall Luncheon.  It gives me an opportunity to fellowship with a group of great individuals that believe in the vision & dream of "making change happen" in the lives of others. I would like to give a special thank you to all of our Sponsor's, Board Members, Chairs and Host Committee that helped us to have a successful event.  It is such a great feeling to have so many caring individuals that help support the dream and for helping us bridge the gap in reaching over 100,000 individuals every year.  Last night I had an opportunity to experience the play "Cinderella" at The Ensemble Theater by the African American Shakespeare Company.  This play will definitely  make you laugh and cry.  Although it was a fictional production I couldn't help but to think about the children in the third ward community.  They too face unfortunate disadvantages and are automatically stereotyped because of their situation. The roles in Cinderella are a celebration of the better side of life in the "hood". That is exactly what we are doing here at Change Happens! showing individuals that even though they live in a poverty stricken area there are still opportunities available for them. I hope you have a chance to see the play you will truly enjoy it.

If you weren't able to join us this year for our Annual Fall Luncheon~ hopefully you will be able to fellowship with us next year on November 1, 2013 and help us to continue to reach our goal of "empowering families to help themselves".
