Record-sharing database to include homeless students

LACOE is expanding its foster youth Educational Passport System to include school records for homeless students. The  data-sharing removes a barrier to ensuring L.A. County's most vulnerable students receive needed educational services.

Azusa USD chief named County Superintendent of the Year

Linda Kaminski, Ed.D., is the first school district leader to be honored with the new Los Angeles County Superintendent of the Year award presented by LACOE.


The L.A. County Board of Education and LACOE Supt. Debra Duardo recently joined with 12 school districts, agencies and organizations in filing an amicus brief that supports lawsuits challenging the rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Officials launch Early Head Start center

Low-income families with infants or toddlers in the Hollywood area now have a state-of-the-art facility that will provide free, comprehensive child development and support services. The center is the result of a partnership between LACOE and the Youth Policy Institute.
