Welcome, New families, to the Charger Chatter Newsletter!
If this is your first copy of the Charger Chatter, Welcome! The Cherry Crest PTSA "Charger Chatter" newsletter is produced most Tuesdays during the school year.

Look to the Chatter for news about PTSA-sponsored activities for students such as Curriculum Enhancement and for announcements of school events such as the Walkathon, Family Nights and the PTSA Fundraisers.

You can also find links to Bellevue School District information, news from our librarian, nurse and school principal, as well as information about after-school enrichment opportunities, athletic activities and community activities for families and children.
PTSA Funded Curriculum Enhancement
The Curriculum Enhancement (CE) Committee is charged with creating new and exciting learning opportunities for all students at Cherry Crest that expand grade level curriculum. The committee works very hard to ensure that activities, visiting authors and field trips are fun, but more importantly, they tie directly to the BSD curriculum and enhance your child's learning experience! Everything CE does is teacher-driven; the teachers decide which experiences will best enhance the class's curriculum.

A huge thanks to this year's Curriculum Enhancement Committee!

  • Kindergarten - Kelly Bach
  • 1st Grade - Erin Miller & Elma Nahm
  • 2nd Grade - Alison Richards, Karin Hargrove, Rhea Lwin & Ann Kolovyansky
  • 3rd Grade - Joshlene Sandhu, Katherine Sun, Cherry Jiang & Tracy Li
  • 4th Grade - Heather MacMillan, Nina Abelman & Kerry Deutsch
  • 5th Grade - Tanya Somanna & Viki Lawton
  • Curriculum Enhancement Chair - Jamie Bland

These amazing curriculum-extending events are funded by the Cherry Crest PTSA through the Walkathon, Mid-winter Auction, Spring Readathon and other fundraising efforts. Your support makes
it possible for the Curriculum Enhancement team to arrange over 50 presenters, field trips and special events to enhance the curriculum and make Cherry Crest an enriching experience for all students!
Recent Events
Ms. Elms and Ms. Hanson's second graders had a fun and exciting CE activity on June 4th learning about insects and bugs from Animal Encounters.
Letter from PTSA Presidents
Dear Cherry Crest Parents,

We can't believe summer is here and this is the last Chatter of the school year! What a wonderful year it has been!

Thanks to your generous donations we have continued to provide Cherry Crest students with Curriculum Enhancement Activities (field trips, visiting authors, science workshops, art projects, all school assembly events), family events (fall festival, festival of cultures, variety show, spelling bee and so many more ...) and Classroom Instructional Aides at every grade level.

Cherry Crest is lucky to have so many parents who care and contribute to making Cherry Crest such a unique and successful school. We have seen you helping in the front lines (classrooms, field trips, family nights, fundraisers, enrichment activities), as well as the many unseen helping hands behind the scenes, from home, during late evening hours. We are ever so GRATEFUL to be part of such comm(UNITY) and we THANK YOU all!

A huge thank you to our wonderful EC members – Goms Sundaresan, Dave Fandel, Maggie Lo, Vatchala Renganathan, Jamie Bland, Shalini Thuppal, Erin Miller, Vasundhara Jain & Chelsea Lientz for all their dedication and willingness to serve our Comm(Unity) this year!

We would like to give a special thank you to our Communication Team, who EVERY WEEK delivers to you the chatter, updates the PTSA website and keeps the PTSA Facebook page up to date. Thank you, Heather Sherman, Jaya Sugathan, Jennifer Renwick, Rhea Lwin, Michelle Abrahams, Tracy Li, Namita Sheokand and Vatchala Renganathan!

On behalf of the Cherry Crest PTSA, we wish you a very great summer! Good luck to our 5th graders getting ready for the middle school adventure, and looking forward to meeting new students and families joining us in the fall.

Thank You, Field Day Volunteers!
Thank you for the wonderful volunteer support on Field Day! What a fun way to celebrate the year end, our kids wouldn't be able to do this without our parents offering their time on this day!
