Middle School Retreat

"In September, our middle school students had the opportunity to attend our first MS Camp experience. Leaving school early on a Wednesday morning, we headed west with 40 6-8th graders to the Coronet Bay Retreat Center. Accompanied by the middle school teachers and some wonderful parents, our group totaled around 50 people. Along the way we stopped at Fort Casey, explored the cool bunkers and fortifications, and broke bread together."

Yearbook Camera Donation

Have you fully embraced your smartphone? Have you given up on that bulky camera you still own? We would love to put that camera to good use!

Our Yearbook class is looking for a digital SLR (Canon Rebel, Nikon D3000, or similar) that they can use to take photos around campus, and at school sport and community events, especially in settings with poor lighting. Having a camera like this would allow students to gain real photography skills and experience.

Donation of photographic equipment to SCS is eligible for a gift-in-kind donation receipt. If you need further details, please contact Eric Warren . If you would like to make a donation, you can bring it to Jonathan in the office.
2017-18 School Directory

School directories were sent home with your youngest student last week. Each family receives one directory. If you did not receive a directory, please let the office know.
Pies and Patterns

Calling all bakers! Share your favorite pie or dessert with a pattern with our community at our All School Open House. Please email Michelle if you are interested in baking.
Tips for "The Talk"
November 29, 7pm - 8:30pm

Parents are the most influential people in their child’s lives. Shoreline Christian would like to be a resource for parents as they determine the best time to discuss the topics of puberty, sexuality, safety, and decision making with their child. The timeline for these discussions is different in each family and we, as a school, want to support those individual differences by giving parents the tools to use whenever their children are ready.

Christmas Bazaar
The annual Holiday Bazaar will take place from November 3-4 in the Watson Groen Memorial Gymnasium. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Class of 2019. The bazaar will be open Friday from 3pm - 7pm, and Saturday from 10am - 4pm.

If you are interested in being a vendor or know someone who might, contact Julie Alberda .

If there is enough interest we will once again have a parent sponsored “Kid Table”

Contact Donna Eisses if your student (elementary, middle school, or high school) has just a few things they have crafted to sell and would like to share the table.

Our annual feast is scheduled for Friday, November 17. Students from preschool through 5th grade will be enjoying a fabulous Thanksgiving feast. We need lots of volunteers to make this another great event. Even if you missed the planning meeting you can still sign up and get involved. Volunteers are needed for: shopping, decorations, photographer, work in kitchen day of feast, set up tables, serve the feast, bring a crockpot or electric knife or potato peelers, help with clean up, bake some cookies, heat up the turkey at home, help with the photo booth, and of course help with clean up.

Come be part of a fun event. We hope to serve approximately 100 people and we can't do it without our terrific parent volunteers. Send and email to Char DeKoekkoek, at  and we'll find a spot for you!
