Christian Brother Returns to First Teaching Assignment
|
|
Written by: Tony Quattrochi, Alumni Relations
Early into his sophomore year at St. Joseph High School, Bob Veselsky approached Brother Carl, his homeroom teacher. The LaGrange native and graduate of St. Cletus grade school wondered what those men in black robes, most of whom were his teachers, did after their teaching day ended. Within a few months’ time, Brother Daniel McMullen, FSC, area vocation coordinator for the Christian Brothers, called Bob out of class and recommended he take a journey to Glencoe, Missouri, to learn more.
Now Brother Robert Veselsky, FSC, remembers vividly what happened next.

Have you ever paged through a catalog and thought, “Hey, that model looks familiar”?
Well, be prepared to see a lot of familiar faces from the Saint Joseph High School community when a new sportswear catalog is released in the spring of 2019.
Mike Zaremba, president of Tribal Knowledge Marketing in Chicago, approached St. Joseph this summer seeking permission to photograph Charger athletes for a catalog shoot for S&S Activewear, a Bolingbrook-based seller of sports apparel and accessories.

"I'VE PREPARED FOR THIS MOMENT! IT'S GRADUATION DAY, TIME FLIES!"
|
“When choosing a high school, I wanted to look for something that was new for me.
It had to challenge me to become a leader
. At St. Joseph, I knew I could get that opportunity. As a private school, I know it would be different going to a small high school. It is easy for everyone to meet each other. Therefore, I made it my duty to inspire others throughout my time there. I wanted people to learn that it’s possible to achieve any goal you’ve set your mind to.
There was so much diversity within the school
that I was able to reach a lot of people. No matter who I encountered, I understood that I had to try to embrace them. I realized St. Joe’s tried to promote a family-like environment. In return, I pushed myself to give my all
to the Charger community in every positive aspect."
