Hello yogis!

We are all about showing the LOVE this month to our beloved yoga community.  Thank you for being a part of our yoga family!

We all come to the mat for different reasons - physical, mental, emotional, or simply because if we don't - our life stays chaotic.  There is so much outside noise in our world today, that taking time to practice can clear your mind and bring you back to a place of peace.  By opening your body, you can free up space for something new, and take that into the world and LOVE!  Because the world needs more of that right now!

Speaking of LOVE, we have a great pre-Valentine couple's event this Saturday with Joanna.  Bring a friend, family member or just invite another student to join you this  Saturday, February 11 from 6-7:30 pm for a Couple Valentine's Workshop with Joanna.  This is for yogis at all levels, and we will have so much fun!!!  Read below for more information or sign up here.  Champagne and chocolate reception afterwards!

And, 40 Days to Personal Revolution is back!!!  We are pleased to offer this signature Baptiste Institute program that promises you a personal transformation of the body, mind and spirit.  Lindsay Moore and Sarah Beattie will lead you through a 40 days journey of daily yoga, meditation and healthy eating habits while taking time for inquiry into our beliefs and thought patterns.  This is truly a life changing program and if you are seeking personal transformation in 2017, read below or sign up here.

From our Southern Om family to yours, we wish you the opportunity to find love and light right here at our studio.

We are so grateful you are here.

Namaste-

Pace & Sarah

40 DAYS TO PERSONAL REVOLUTION
WITH SARAH AND LINDSAY
6 weeks to transform your mind & body!

Starting February 26 ending April 2

**THERE WILL BE A KICK OFF MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22 AT 7 PM**

40 Days of Yoga, Meditation and Mindful Eating that will change your life!

In the 40 Days to Personal Revolution Program, Baron Baptiste -- one of the world's most beloved master yoga teachers -- inspires us to transform more than body and mind: He gives us the tools we need to set ourselves free to live the healthful life we've always imagined. In these 40 days you will create a whole new way of being and living. Tapping ancient wisdom and his own personal experience, Baron has created a relevant and completely practical program that will lead you to the clarity of mind, body, and spirit that awaits on the other side of your revolution.

You will start to see transformations that happen naturally. You will lose weight, if that is what needs to happen; you will become less reactive and more calm; your bad habits will start to release their grip on you. You will discover, as I did, that external changes happen when we adjust the inner workings of our minds - when we adopt a philosophical foundation that gives our growth greater purpose and meaning.

Why 40 days? Because the number 40 holds tremendous spiritual significance in the realm of transformation. Jesus wandered in the desert for 40 days in order to experience purification, and come to a greater understanding of himself and his mission. Moses and his people travelled through the desert for 40 years before arriving at their home in the holy land. Noah preserved the sacredness of life by sailing his ark for 40 days and 40 nights. According to the Kabbalah, the ancient Jewish mystical text, it takes 40 days to ingrain any new way of being into our system, and that is what we are aiming to do here: wipe out the old and welcome the new.

In 40 days, you can shift into a whole new way of living and being.

This program is led by two Southern Om instructors, Lindsay Moore and Sarah Beattie.

Each week includes:
* A yoga practice to do every day
* Sunday meetings to discuss assigned readings
* Principals to cleanse your diet
* Instructions to begin and deepen a meditation practice
* Excavation questions to root out limiting beliefs and patterns
* Celebration April 2nd!!!

Cost of Program:  $290
Includes UNLIMITED yoga at Southern Om for all six weeks of the program, 40 Days to Personal Revolution book by Baron Baptiste, Notebook with Handouts and six Sunday group meetings plus a kick off meeting.

Sign up online, or by calling 329-1114.
If you have additional questions about the program, please email [email protected]

Bhakti Flow Workshop with Erick

Bhakti flow combines aspects of love, compassion and healing with the grace of vinyasa flow yoga. This workshop will not only stretch your body and your breath but will also stretch your heart by inviting you to move beyond the physical aspects of the practice and experience the asanas on an emotional level. The workshop will begin with a short talk, which will introduce Bhakti yoga along with a theme. This theme will be woven throughout the workshop. We will then have a 90 minute asana practice with specially selected music which will enhance the theme and energy of the class. We will incorporate universal mantras through Kirtan (singing together) - at the close of the class. This workshop will challenge you to let go of anything in your life that feels stagnate, it will empower you to create the life you desire by asking you to embrace the truth of who you are. The workshop will seek to provide a space for you to explore your yoga practice on a deeper more personal level in an effort to encourage you to live your life to its highest potential.

What The World's Oldest Yogi Wishes She Could Tell Her Younger Self
by Leigh Weingus, mbg Yoga & Fitness Editor
Courtesy of mindbodygreen.com

Tao Porchon-Lynch is 98 years old. She also happens to be the oldest  yogi in the world.

Last week, I took a class with Tao. Initially I was excited to practice with such a wise woman, but five minutes into class I forgot about her age completely. Tao appeared weightless. Her limbs lifted off the ground with ease, and the constant smile on her face and attention to the form of every person in class made it a warm, welcoming place to be.

Inspired by her  longevity and fiery spirit, I chatted with Tao via phone later that week to find out her secrets to a well-lived life. Here's what she had to say:

Q: When it comes to food, what's your philosophy?

I start off with half a grapefruit every day, but I don't eat very much. I'm not really interested in eating. In fact, if I'm alone, I forget all about it. I don't eat meat because I don't want to kill anything. I find that food is the essence of my breath of life, and everything that I eat has come through the soil to feed me.

Q: What do you wish people knew about yoga?

I do yoga as I was taught in India by (Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja) Iyengar. Now a lot of people are mixing it up a bit, but I feel that it's very important to make my classes at least an hour and half. I like to watch everyone, because none of us are the made the same. I want to make sure whatever they do is good for their body type.

I think you need more than an hour, because doing yoga without the breath doesn't get you very far. When you're part of the breath, you're part of the eternal energy. It's lingering within your own being in every posture.

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?

I wish I knew that the power of everything was within me. If you're in tune with your breath, you're in tune with the power of the life within you. If you feel that within you, nothing's impossible. It's within every plant, every blade of grass. How do they move through the hard soil and come up to give us beautiful blades of grass?

This same energy passes through every person or creature on this planet. Tune in, and know nothing is impossible within me. Never say, "I cannot." You can. Whatever you put in your mind materializes, so materialize what you believe in life.

Q: What's the secret to aging gracefully?

I've never even thought about it before. I just know that I'm not going to spend my time thinking about getting old. I think of my time as watching the beauty of nature and the trees all around me-some of the trees around me are hundreds of years old, and they're not getting older. So tune in with your inner self, and know that that doesn't change.

Q: What does your nighttime ritual look like?

Before bed I take a bath, then I tune in and watch my breath flowing through my body, and I know it's taking me on the story of life. That way I can relax and feel every pore in my body releasing and renewing.
