What CSAN is:
The
Charter School Association of Nevada
is established to support and expand the number of high-quality public charter schools available to all families in Nevada, especially those who do not have access to high-quality public schools.
- CSAN is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting charter schools in Nevada. Membership in CSAN is open to all charters schools in Nevada.
- CSAN's Board of Directors and Executive Director are committed to helping all its member schools reach higher levels of student performance and accountability by providing school leadership with technical information and useful resources.
- Improve the perception of charter schools in order to increase our influence with policymakers in Nevada.
- Help shape public policy in Nevada to create a legislative and regulatory climate where high-quality charter schools can exist and grow.
- Support the growth of high-quality charter schools by advocating for increased public funding of Nevada's charter schools.
- Advocacy in the State Legislature and with cities and counties
- Works on charter school issues with principals and administrators
- Provides advice on best practices for charter fiscal officers
- Advise charter board members and trustees on good governance practices.

5 Star Coral Academy Charter School of Las Vegas
Wins First Prize in Nevada's Math Counts competition
|

The Coral Academy Charter School is Las Vegas, Nevada won first place in Nevada's MATHCOUNTS competitions -- besting Davidson Academy & Hyde Park.
MATHCOUNTS competitions are designed to be completed in approximately 3 hours. Each competition consists of 4 parts: the Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown Rounds. The Sprint Round has 30 questions, and students have 40 minutes to complete them. The Target Round consists of 8 questions, which are distributed to the students a pair at a time. Students have 6 minutes to complete each pair of problems. The Team Round has 10 problems for the team to work on together for 20 minutes. The top 25% of individuals, up to a maximum of 10, proceed to the Countdown Round, an oral round in which students compete head-to-head.
Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is a K-12 state sponsored, tuition-free public charter school where students are selected by a lottery system. The school’s curriculum focuses on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The school’s mission is to provide a safe, rigorous college preparatory environment, promoting social responsibility and a culturally-diverse community dedicated to becoming lifelong learners bound for success. Since its founding in 2007, the school has won a multitude of prestigious awards, honors, and accolades. Most recently, Washington Post listed CASLV as one of the top schools in Nevada and the nation in its list of "America’s Most Challenging High Schools." For the 2016-17 school year, CASLV opened two new campuses in the Centennial Hills area and Nellis Air Force Base.

The 15-year-old sophomore at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas tested the experiment several times before school’s the fourth annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics Expo on March 18 at Sunridge Park, 1010 Sandy Ridge Ave.
National Alliance for Public Charter Schools - March 27th, 2017
Last week was full of great news for students and families! After years of hard work, we were thrilled to see Gov. Matt Bevin sign legislation making Kentucky the 44th state (plus D.C.) to give parents the option of choosing a charter school for their children. Applicants hoping to launch a new charter school can begin applying at the beginning of the next school year, with the first charter schools opening as early as fall 2018.

44 cities charters serve over 20% of students. These 44 cities, as well as many others in the future, will have to evolve their educational systems to govern a mixed portfolio of school types. What options are available to these cities? Here’s five, some of which will be much better for children than others.
