BECOMING AMERICANS: CHATHAM LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND
Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7

The Civil War era comes alive with live period music, special programs and activities.  Living historians will portray soldiers, civilians, sutlers, surgeons, and the U.S. Sanitary Commission. 

The weekend kicks off Saturday at 9:30 am with a unique walking tour conducted by Chief Historian John Hennessy, looking at the slaves' quest for freedom.

HISTORY AT SUNSET:  STAFFORD
Three Stafford sites will be showcased in this summer's incredibly popular National Park Service 'History at Sunset' series. For more information, please call the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center at (540) 373-6122.

June 12 Starting the Show: A Walk to the Upper Pontoon Crossing, Chatham, 7pm


Frank O'Reilly will introduce the newly opened vista and river bottom in front of Chatham.

Belle Plains: Gateway to War. Meet at Belle Plains Boat Club, 984 Belle Plains Road, 22405, 7pm. Bring a lawn chair.

A Potomac Creek boat landing that predates the Civil War, Belle Plains became famous as a major gateway for material, soldiers, and civilians. This program will explore the stories and images, on and overlooking the ground where they took place.
