O Beautiful, for spacious skies...

How poignant to reflect on the words of our Independence Day hymns and anthem.  How lucky to live and work in a community that embodies the best of our country's ideals and values as we do.

THANK YOU to ALL who joined together to celebrate a beautiful Independence Day!

THANK YOU to the myriad members of the many departments of the
City of Aurora who work hard to provide a safe, friendly environment
in which to celebrate!

It was wonderful to see those of you who stopped by our booth
at the city's Festival. We hope you enjoyed the cotton candy!

How sweet it is to promote our scholarship fund --
Thank you for your help as we strive to support our future leaders!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea.

Not let's get busy....there is much work to do.

The Gertsburg Law Firm

The attorneys of Gertsburg Law have a comprehensive understanding of the countless legal issues facing business on a daily basis.  In order to share our knowledge with the community, we publish weekly blog articles that explain and elaborate on issues relevant to business owners. Here are some of the articles available on our blog this month:

If you own or operate a business in Ohio (indeed, in any state in the U.S.), a background check is a necessary component of your hiring process. If you are in the process of hiring or promoting a new employee, here is what you need to know about running a proper background check.

The Gertsburg Law Firm is the first all value-billing business law firm in Northeast Ohio. This means we bill for our work product and our results, not the amount of time we spend on it. Alex Gertsburg recently sat down with Steve Millard of COSE to explain innovative new billing strategies that law firms and their clients are using. Watch this short video to learn about ways to save money on your legal expenses.

The corporate veil is one of the most important legal tools in protecting the personal assets of shareholders or the assets of a large parent company. Courts are generally loath to revoke the protections offered by a corporation, and will typically do so only in the event of gross misconduct. Using corporations and subsidiaries as tools to limit the liability of parent companies and shareholders is a legitimate business practice that can be an invaluable part of a risk management and a successful legal strategy.

Shutting down all or part of your business isn't simply a matter of settling out accounts and satisfying consents and contracts. Just like every other aspect of your business, closing down a subsidiary or parent company and dissolving any business entity requires thoughtful consideration, diligence and a strict adherence to procedure. A single misstep can leave you and your partners personally liable for recurring Secretary of State fees, taxes, and even legal claims or pending judgments against the dissolved business entity.

To learn more about the services of Gertsburg Law, call us today at 440-571-7777 or complete our contact form . From our Chagrin Falls office, we proudly provide legal services for businesses of all sizes.
