Meeting called to order by President Liz Ross. Total attendance: 25, members-20, other Kiwanis members-3 Bob Kemper (N.C), DIck and Charlene Boardman (Iowa), today's speakers Brenda Tate and Mary Moore,  Nice to see Kathy WIllson and Chrysten Foley
with us today.

50/50-Stewart had the winning ticket today however he did not draw the ace of hearts. Anyone can play and is eligible for the instant winnings. Only club members however can take a chance at drawing the ace. 

Happy dollars: Sheriff Lindsey collected happy dollars for the speaker, new club charter banquet, for Paul organizing fund raising committee meeting, busy week, visitors, good company.

Restaurant coupon books are available. See Todd. A percentage of sales comes back to our club. Annual project of Gateway to the Islands Club.

The recent Division Council Meeting was hosted by LaBelle Kiwanis. Dwyane Pratt provided a presentation on swamp cabbage. We learned how it is made from the sabal palm tree and then we had the opportunity to taste it. The 52nd annual Swamp Cabbage Festival is Feb. 24th. The local LaBelle Key Club was on hand to help serve the meal. Other speakers included: Lt. Gov. Beth Elaine with the "State of the Division," Denny Sharma on the Division Atlas Project and the Science & Engineering Fair, Stewart Ross with the 1 Plan, Bruce Boyd on the Kiwanis Florida Foundation and "Snazzy Traveler " incentive program and more.  We had a 50/50 and basket raffle items. Attending from our club were: Todd Adams, Jon Wallace, Kim Berghs and Bob Kemper. Stewart and Liz Ross attended and represented two clubs.

                                             SLP Spotlight-February is Aktion Club
Aktion club is the only community-service club for adults living with disabilities. Aktion Club allows members to develop initiative and leadership skills in serving their communities while enabling their integration into society. Aktion Club originated in Florida in 1987 and was adopted as an official sponsored program of Kiwanis International in 2000. Aktion Club week is March 5-9, 2018.

Did you know our club co-sponsors an Aktion Club here in Fort Myers with the Edison club? Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month at 8:30am at LARC, 2570 Hanson Street.

They are collecting books and magazines for those less fortunate. Bring in any you want to donate to one of our meetings by March 6th.

Karen Hurst has volunteered to attend Aktion Club meetings. Who else can help?

Today our guest speaker was Brenda Tate, CEO and Founder of Women's Foundation SW Florida. Mary Moore, Development Associate also attended. The foundation was launched in 2011 and serves 5 counties. They help women with starting up a business, provide matching grants, and manage a program called; Earn to Learn FL. Did you know that fewer than 1 in 5 women over age 25 in SW Florida have earned a bachelors degree? Brenda works to raise money, secure legislation and negotiate deals to fulfill the missions of worthy causes.
