Health Insurance Requirement
Waiver deadline is September 18

All incoming full-time students are required to have qualifying health insurance that provides coverage while studying in Syracuse. If you already have coverage, please document this coverage as soon as possible by completing a Student Health Insurance Waiver Form online at  myslice.syr.edu. Failure to complete this process will result in you being automatically enrolled in and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan insured and administered by Aetna Student Health.

For more information and answers to frequently asked questions about this requirement, visit the  Student Health Insurance website .
Orange SUccess and Degree Works

Orange SUccess is a web based advising tool that improves the way we support your success at Syracuse University. To get started, login through MySlice (under Student Services > Ask for Help in Orange Success) or Blackboard (under Tools) and make sure your profile information is accurate.

Degree Works is a web-based degree audit tool to help you and your advisors monitor your progress toward degree completion. The system combines Syracuse University's degree requirements along with your completed coursework information into an easy-to-read worksheet to show you what courses and requirements still need to be completed. Degree Works is easy to access through MySlice. Locate the Degree Works link found in the Student Services/Advising section to view your personal audit worksheet.
Reserve your textbooks

Your fall 2017 course schedule is available to view on MySlice. You can then review the textbook information provided by your instructor on the Bookstore's textbook site. The SU Bookstore will pull your textbooks, box them, and have them ready for you when you come to campus.

For those of you who prefer to make your textbook purchases after you arrive on campus, the knowledgeable textbook staff will be available to assist you in finding your textbooks in the Schine Student Center Bookstore. Just be sure to bring a copy of your class schedule and SU I.D. with you!

Learn your SU Traditions!
The Goon Squad

Established in 1944 by the Traditions Commission, the job of the Goon Squad was to help incoming freshmen adjust to college life and spread school spirit throughout campus. Wearing elaborate straw hats and Jiminy Cricket buttons, the Goons would lead cheers at football games, help freshmen move into dorms, and usher events such as the annual Goon Show.  Today the Goon Squad has changed. They no longer lead cheers at football games or wear straw hats and buttons. The main responsibility of the Goon Squad is simple but appreciated: to aid new students moving in to their new home away from home and help them feel secure about college life.
