New student move-in and  Syracuse Welcome 2018  are quickly approaching! Now is the time to learn more about the new student move-in process and start planning your schedule for Syracuse Welcome.

Don't forget that Syracuse Welcome has gone mobile, so be sure to download the SU Guides app from the iTunes or Google Play store.
What is an Arrival & Parking Pass?
To ensure a smooth arrival and move-in, all new residential students must print and bring their Arrival and Parking Pass with them to move into their residence hall. When you register for
Syracuse Welcomeusing the Orientation Registration Form, you will submit your preferences for your move-in date and time shift.  The Orientation Registration Form will be available between June 1 and July 15.

Your move-in date and time will be randomly assigned based on your housing assignment and move-in preferences received from the Orientation Registration Form.  Your Arrival and Parking Pass states your move-in date and time and will be automatically created and emailed to your syr.edu email address on July 20, 2018.  (No Arrival and Parking Passes will be issued before this date.)  There are a limited number of passes for each date and shift. Available Shifts include:
  • Tuesday, August 21st 11:30am-2pm
  • Tuesday, August 21st 2-5pm
  • Wednesday, August 22nd 9am-11:30am
  • Wednesday, August 22nd 11:30am-2pm
  • Wednesday, August 22nd 2pm-5pm
  • Thursday, August 23rd 9am-11:30am
  • Thursday, August 23rd 11:30am-2pm
Please note: All new student residence halls are not available for assisted new student move-in for all shifts.

It is likely you will not receive your first or second preference for move-in.  Due to safety and space limitations, we are required to limit the number of new students that can move in during each move-in shift.  We appreciate your patience knowing that you may not receive your first or second preference for move-in.

Computers and Technology
What you need to know and bring to campus!

All SU residences enjoy 100 percent high-speed wireless and wired network coverage. You will receive information about connecting your devices to the SU network when you check into your residence hall. To connect, you will need your NetID and password, and access to your device's administrator account.

Bring an Ethernet cable for any network-enabled TVs, streaming media devices (e.g., Roku 3, Apple TV), and similar devices, including wireless game consoles (e.g. Xbox, Playstation), and if you want the option of a wired connection for your computer. Except for your computer, none of these are supported on the wireless network.

Computer recommendations from your school or college can be found at its.syr.edu/computers. Check them before making any decisions. If your school or college says you can buy either Apple or Windows, buy the one with which you are most comfortable. Running a Windows operating system on an Apple computer may add cost. Most standard software is available for both platforms.

Learn your SU Traditions!
Winter Carnival

Winter Carnival was a conglomeration of events and traditions all rolled up into one weekend.  The origin of this tradition (1933) was as a holiday before the onset of exams, but also a means to break the monotony of the winter months.  Events included dances, snow sculpting contests, and winter sports. Today's Winter Carnival offers outdoor and indoor activities, including human dog sled races, ice-carvings, chili cook-offs, snow sculptures, and other events that coincide with Syracuse Winterfest.
