Incredible Journey
Incredible Journey is the third of the annual SHORT.SHARP.STORIES anthologies. Following the crime-thrillers of Bloody Satisfied (2013) and erotic tales of Adults Only (2014), the focus in 2015 is on a journey, be it political, personal or emotional. The incredible journeys of this year's title vary from road trips to mind trips, and are by turns inspirational, intriguing, and entertaining. Those that have made this year's shortlist have two things in common: 1) as in previous collections, they capture uniquely South African voices, and 2) they move the reader. The judges of this year's competition are Henrietta Rose-Innes, Ken Barris and Makhosazana Xaba, with a foreword to the collection by Sindiwe Magona. The Awards As the only regular collection of short fiction writing in South Africa, the SHORT.SHARP.STORIES initiative, published in conjunction with the National Arts Festival, is playing an increasingly important role in the nurturing and development of South African writing talent. Bloody Satisfied and Adults Only were both positively reviewed in the media, and together have given widespread exposure to more than 40 local authors. Incredible Journey will provide a platform for another 20 authors, some established (such as Anirood Singh, Bridget Pitt and Sally-Ann Murray), others previously unpublished.

Latin@ Rising An Anthology of Latin@ Science Fiction and Fantasy
Edited by  Matthew David Goodwin , Introduction by Frederick Luis Aldama

Latin@ Rising is the first anthology of science fiction and fantasy written by Latinos/as living in the United States. The book gives an overview to the field of Latino/a speculative, showing the great variety of stories being told by Latino/a writers. Fifty years ago the Latin American "Boom" introduced magical realism to the world; Latin@ Rising is the literature that has risen from the explosion that gave us García Márquez, Jorge Amado, Carlos Fuentes and others. The 21st century writers and artists of Latin@ Rising help us to imagine a Latino/a past, present, and future which have not been whitewashed by mainstream perspectives. Contrary to the popular perception, Latino/a Literature is not just magical realism and social realist protest literature-it also contains much speculative fiction. By showing the actual breadth of genres being used by Latino/a authors, Latin@ Rising will help extend the boundaries of the Latino/a literature canon. Latin@ Rising demonstrates the value of speculative fiction for the Latino/a community: it gives Latinos/as a vital means for imagining a past and a future in which they play a pivotal role, and it constitutes a narrative of the effects of technology on the Latino/a community. The book shows how the richness of the speculative genres provide U.S. Latinos/as with a unique medium to discuss issues of colonialism, migration, and the experience of being bicultural. The 23 authors and artists included in this anthology come from all over the U.S. and from eight different national traditions. They include well-known creators like Kathleen Alcalá, Ana Castillo, Junot Diaz, Giannina Braschi and others; they also include new voices, well worth hearing.

Experimental Shakespeare
A Novel Reading of His Play-Scripts
By  Eli Rozik

Shakespeare's playwrighting and possibly his directing reflect a consistent intent to explore principles that, in his days, were perceived as foreign to the dramatic idiom. This is evident within the framework of contemporary theatre theories at the time. Eli Rozik's novel reading of the play-scripts provides the classical and synchronic theoretical background required to capture Shakespeare's innovative approach, and is a major contribution to the history of European theatre practice and theory. All of Rozik's earlier publications on theatre practice and theory engage with Shakespeare's play-scripts by example and these insights are re-integrated herein. The result is a new and challenging concept of Shakespeare's contribution to the art of theatre, and to a viewpoint of the Bard as an unprecedented experimental playwright and innovator in all that concerns the mastery of theatre art and, especially, the expansion of its means of expression.

The Moncalvos
By  Enrico Castelnuova, Translated by  Gabriella Romani, Translated by  Brenda Webster

Enrico Castelnuovo's The Moncalvos was originally published in 1908 in Italian. This is the first English translation of this famous novelist's most controversial title. Set at the turn of the 20th century, 50 years after Garibaldi's revolution and the unification of Italy, the Jewish residents of Italy have come into their own as landowners, academics, business people, and financiers. But one branch of the Moncalvos family yearns for the level of respectability that only an aristocratic title can confer. This requires much political maneuvering, but it also requires conversion to Catholicism. Two brothers, a mathematician and a banker, and their children, take very different routes through this maze.
