It's Epicurean Event Season!
It’s time to put on the plastic pig nose and head to Dell’Osso Family Farm ’s 2nd annual Baconfest in Lathrop, California, a little town with big bacon near Stockton, September 9 and 10. I’ll be on stage with eight other chefs – including (and I’m pretty stoked about this) Elisabeth Watkins, Food Network’s Chopped Junior champ from season one, and other executive and master chefs from around the country, cooking in front of 30,000 or so folks seeking their own pancetta panacea. Saturday is demo day, and Sunday is the Professional Chefs Competition.
Adam Richman of Man vs. Food is the emcee this year for the bands, bacon and beer studded weekend. You will not believe the things people can do with bacon. Come see for yourself!
Viva la Comida de México
I am so excited to attend the World Forum on Mexican Gastronomy. I’ll be appearing with Kelly Myers, executive chef of Xico, a regional Mexican and mezcal restaurant located in Portland in the Chefs con Corazón Mexicano event, which roughly translates to Mexican Chefs with Heart. Since my heart lies with Mexican and South American cuisines, this event is perfectly named for me! I’ll spend five days surrounded by the best chefs from Mexico and around the world learning how the recent explosion in the popularity of Mexican foods impact the country’s ability to both produce enough food for itself and for export. People come to learn and to eat…it doesn’t get any better than that! Here's a brief slide show on the FMGM Facebook page.
It's a Fall Affair
I’ve been lucky enough to teach cooking classes to kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada in Carson City twice now, and am very impressed with their curiosity and intellect, as well as the Club’s Carson City facility. They are hoping to build a new, stand-alone Clubhouse in the Carson Valley, as they are currently serving more than 340 kids out of the local middle school.

Along with my great friends and partners, Josh and Whitney Deri, at Blend Catering , we’ll be cooking up an Argentinian style barbecue with Borda lambs over an open flame at the Fall Affair at the Pink House in Genoa October 1, to help raise the necessary funds to get these kids a place of their own. Come on down and support a great cause and enjoy one heck of a great evening!
Get Ready For Reno Bites 2017! We kick off Reno Bites Week on October 9 and run through October 15 this year. Six years in, and this year, we’re doing my favorite theme – Road Trip – apropos of my favorite way to experience new and exciting ways to cook the foods that matter to us. Chefs from around the Reno area will offer dishes in the $10, $20 and $30 ranges inspired by their love of travel and happy road trip memories.

My favorite event, Chef Showdown at Czyz’s Appliance is Saturday, October 14 from 2 to 5 p.m.
We get to challenge eight regional chefs to create the best dish with a surprise basket of ingredients. Winner walks away with bragging rights, and prizes, of course.

I’m Chef Clint Jolly. My entire life has been in the food world, having grown up in a butcher shop, learning how to properly cut meat at five and serving my own creations to customers at age 13. Mentoring culinary students is also a passion, along with traveling and gathering the flavors of the world, and telling my culinary stories through every delicious bite. Enjoy!
