Welcome CherryArts newest team member:
Shaina Belton, Education/Programs Coordinator
Over the last few years I have spent my time working to empower young people through the act of art making.
While at the Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh, I led the CAM community outreach programs, including CAM To Go and the Student Docent Program. Through these programs we provided resources and educational materials to people in need of a creative outlet.
I also developed a program called Studio 409, a monthly event where the museum became a studio space for emerging artists and the creative community.
Along with heading these programs, I assisted in the exhi
bition process by handling and installing artwork. This provided great insight while generating student projects for CAM To Go and the museum's Creation Station.
Prior to my time at CAM Raleigh, I worked in a public magnet school as an art educator for grades 6-12 and for an arts organization called Room 13
International Studio Network in Fort William, Scotland.
Through my professional experience, I have been able to fuse the collective studio into the art classroom, creating a space in which critical thinking and creative expression become one. I am extremely excited to be a part of the CherryArts team and I plan to use my past experience as a foundation for growth with this organization!
