Cherry Creek Arts Festival | Alive With Art | July 2, 3, 4
WELCOME TO CCAF 2016
CherryArts Friends!

We hope this finds you enjoying the springtime. Around here, preparations are well under way for an incredible 26th Annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival! We hope you'll join us in celebrating a weekend of arts and cultural experiences, as the streets of Cherry Creek North come Alive With Art on July 2, 3, 4 this year.

You - our visitors, sponsors, partners and friends - help us create and engage a community that is alive with art during the Festival and year-round. This year's event features more than 250 artists from across the nation juried into the show from over 2000 applicants. These artists are busy creating and we can't wait to see the fruits of their labor in July. In addition, you can enjoy performing arts, family activities, interactive arts education opportunities and more.

We invite you to learn more about event happenings and artists on our new blog.

Thank you for your continued support of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival and see you all in July!

My new series of paintings "Wild Flowers" celebrates the glorious beauty of something I find incredibly inspiring: abundant blooms. I love playfully laying on layers of fresh color and then adding mark making and bold, free line work. I play loud music when I paint, sing, dance and often use both hands. I begin every floral painting with a layer of charcoal figure drawings that are loosely painted. This layer serves as the inspirational surface for the top and final painting of the florals. You may be able to spot the small remnants of the figure drawing peeking through the flowers. My goal is to share the feeling of buoyancy and joy that comes from admiring natural beauty, and to fully enjoy the process.

CHERRYARTS UPDATES
Welcome CherryArts newest team member:
Shaina Belton, Education/Programs Coordinator

Over the last few years I have spent my time working to empower young people through the act of art making.

While at the Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh, I led the CAM community outreach programs, including CAM To Go and the Student Docent Program. Through these programs we provided resources and educational materials to people in need of a creative outlet.  I also developed a program called Studio 409, a monthly event where the museum became a studio space for emerging artists and the creative community.

Along with heading these programs, I assisted in the exhi bition process by handling and installing artwork. This provided great insight while generating student projects for CAM To Go and the museum's Creation Station.

Prior to my time at CAM Raleigh, I worked in a public magnet school as an art educator for grades 6-12 and for an arts organization called Room 13  International Studio Network in Fort William, Scotland.

Through my professional experience, I have been able to fuse the collective studio into the art classroom, creating a space in which critical thinking and creative expression become one. I am extremely excited to be a part of the CherryArts team and I plan to use my past experience as a foundation for growth with this organization!
