I Can Give

Bible Basis: II Chronicles 24:1-14

Joash spent his first six years hiding in the temple precincts from his wicked grandmother, Athaliah. In 835 B.C., when Joash was seven years old, the High Priest Jehoida brought him out from hiding and made him king of the southern kingdom of Judah. The disrepair of the temple was something that made King Joash very sad. He reinstated the half -shekel temple tax as required by the law of Moses (Exod. 30:13-15; 38:25-26). People were urged to put their contributions in a large chest which had been placed beside the altar for burnt offerings in the courtyard outside the temple. The money was used to restore the temple as well as provide the gold, silver, and brass utensils used in worship.

Lesson Focus: We can give to God

Memory Verse: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart." Matthew 22:37

A Changed Life

Bible Basis: Acts 16:25-34

Paul and Silas were arrested because they casted out the demon out of the fortune telling salve girl in Philippi. While they were in prison an earthquake occurred, and the prisoners were miraculously freed from their chains. The jailer, convinced the prisoners had escaped, planned to kill himself. Paul calmed the jailer's fears and offered him salvation through faith in Christ.

Lock-In Praise Report!

We had 21 rising 4th, 5th and 6th Graders attend our Lock-In last Friday night. We played on a giant water slide, had dinner, ate s'mores, and had GREAT worship celebrating "Father's Love."

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" - I John 3:1

Parents and children enjoyed a devotion and a special time of sharing notes of love, prayer and encouragement written to each other, which were shared together as a family before enjoying breakfast. All were dismissed in prayer. Click here for more pictures from the event!
