A Program of Vision House
Village News November 2017
Blessings to you and your family!

The school year is off to a great start. There is wonderful learning happening in each of the classes. In September we focused on our new classroom routines and appreciated seeing so many families at our fall open house. During October, we enjoyed watching the leaves change colors and many of our classes went on a trip to the pumpkin patch. We had a blast during our Harvest Celebration. Thank you to everyone who brought a treat to share! Check out what your child’s classroom has been up to and what to look forward to this month.

Infants
As cold weather hits we are focused more than ever on healthy habits for our babies. Please remember to wash your and your child’s hands upon entering the classroom every day. Creative expression is important starting at a young age.  This month we will be exploring with paint! Please bring in extra cloths for your little one. We are also saying good bye to Alia as she is moving next door to the toddler room.
Toddlers
Our Toddler room welcomed many new friends the beginning of the school year. We spent time learning our school routine and getting to know each other. We have also been focused on following one task directions with action words such as run and hop. This month we are looking forward to learning about farms and farm animals. We will also be celebrating friendship this Thanksgiving season.
Younger Preschool
The Younger Preschool class has enjoyed plenty of time outside this fall studying the tree cycle including leaves changing color. We also learned about the five senses and explored using our whole bodies. Pumpkin math was a favorite activity as was pumpkin guts exploration. In November we are focusing on identifying emotions and will learn about life on a farm. Ms. Rebecca will be on vacation for 3 weeks, so Ms. Laurie will be filling in while she is away.
Older Preschool
Our Older Preschool students enjoyed learning about farms and celebrating the harvest. We even got to go to a real farm and pick out a pumpkin to take home! We are also learning our alphabet using Zoophonics. This month we are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving and learn what families eat at their tables for celebrations around the globe. Please check your child's cubby for information about ASQ assessments.
Beginners
Our Beginners started out the school year focused on recognizing printed names, numbers and patterns. We started using our bully prevention program, Second Step, and learned about positive self-talk. Our trip to the pumpkin patch launched our harvest unit study. As Thanksgiving approaches we will learn about different types of families and traditions around the world. Check out all the fun we have been up to on our Class Facebook Page!
School Age

Our School Age classroom has been enjoying spending time outside playing foursquare, picking black berries, and jumping in leaves. To encourage creative expression, each child was given a journal to write and draw. This month we have many fun cooking projects planned.
