Fourth Sunday in Lent - Refreshment Sunday

Weekly Chimes

Greetings, friends and neighbors!

I hope your Lent is holy as we move past the half way point. This weekend is "Laetare Sunday" or "Rejoice" or "refreshment" Sunday when we pull out the rose colored vestments and have flowers at the altar as a small break in the penitential season of fasting and austerity. The change in tone anticipates the approach of the victorious joy of the Easter resurrection. Come and give thanks for all the ways God is blessing you and sustaining your life. I will be preaching in the Church and Jacqueline Soltys is in the Gathering.

We will have a time to 'slow down' on Saturday for a Lenten Retreat. See details below if you would like some peace and contemplation using Henri Nouwen's meditations. He is one of my favorite contemplative writers with his thoughtful work that usually makes a mark on my heart.

I need some of you who remember the joy of receiving a welcome bag of bread and information about ODEC to sign up to do delivery to visitors NO MORE THAN once a quarter. If enough of you sign up this is easy. You don't have to be a 'talker' - just a taker, because your instructions are to warmly tell the person you are delivering to that you are not permitted to stay and talk - only to drop off a gift. That makes it so we don't disrupt someone's day, but also makes it easy for you. If you received bread and it made an impact, please join the takers for this year for a one year commitment (4 visits total).

Tonight vestry commissions are meeting. Come join us if you have an interest in Outreach, Stewardship, Buildings and Grounds, Evangelism, or Parish Life. Eucharist at 6, supper 6:30 and meetings from 7-8:00.

See you soon!
