Fifth Sunday of Easter

Weekly Chimes

Good morning, Old Donation family and friends,

Last Friday night we had a wonderful Art Auction as a fundraiser for the Day School scholarship fund. Lots of members of the parish joined parents of day school children for a relaxing evening of beauty and good food. THANKS to Parish Life who did great work to provide food and organized the parish hall so well. We don't have final numbers, but it appears to have been a terrific event and doubtless exceeded expectations.

I have to apologize for those who came last Sunday looking for our annual live lamb for Good Shepherd Sunday. It was the result of a series of mishaps. First we couldn't get our normal lamb. Then a backup lamb fell out. I still had my backup kid goat though, so all would still work. That is, until it was outside in the surprise rain storm in Pungo on Saturday. Our goat got soaked and covered with mud! So Saturday night I learned that if the goat came in, it would be wet and pretty smelly. I declined. I heard on Monday that it still wasn't totally dry.

This Sunday there are no lambs or goats planned, but it is Mother's Day, so I hope you will all be with us. If not, I hope it is because you are attending a college graduation somewhere. Ashley will be preaching in the Gathering and I'm in the Church. If you ever felt like a 'nobody' come and we will talk, since our Epistle speaks a word about that.

Tonight Mother Ashley and our Parish Nurses are helping us understand how to strengthen our spiritual relationship with God. Learning some of the spiritual disciplines and incorporating them into a Rule of Life, including the Labyrinth will be discussed. Come for Eucharist, Supper and discussion from 6-8:00

If you play golf, it is time to sign up your foursome for the second ODEC tournament on June 2. It will be a fun day and for a good cause.

See you Sunday!
