Weekly Chimes

All!

Don't miss FARMER'S MARKET DAY this week. This Thursday July 13th from 4-7PM we welcome Nottalotta Acres Urban Farm to offer fresh local produce for sale on the lawn at Old Donation Church. Come by and meet your neighbor, Amanda Gerber, who grows non GMO, pesticide free produce nearby. What a wonderful opportunity to put vegetables on your table the same day they came from the garden. Meet Amanda and hear about her creative idea for urban farming, support a neighbor's initiative, and treat your family the fresh, unprocessed food. Bring your own reusable shopping bag! And, tell your neighbor. What a great prelude for the Gospel Lesson this Sunday; Jesus' Parable of the Sower!
" ...what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit..."  (Matthew 13:23)

Don't you love it when a plan comes together! Helping our children consistently hear, and incorporate, the foundational stories of the Old Testament each week is working well. The children's sermon focuses on the Old Testament stories from Genesis and Exodus that most of us learned as children. The stories from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Rebecca, Rachel, Joseph, and Moses come alive in sequential order and our children are "getting it". Thanks, Pam Campbell, for the creative craft which is capturing these stories into a quilted banner project.

Vacation Bible School is next week, Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21. Registration is full and we really need volunteers to deliver another great program for our children. Teens, your assistance is really valued, so please come help out.

ODEC softball is coming this fall! We are organizing a team for coed softball and have already paid the registration fee. If you want to play, we need you - with or without experience.

We really need Sunday bus drivers.  We currently make one run to the retirement homes - pick up at 10:00 for the last service and return at 11:45 after worship. It is easy. The bus does NOT require a special license and it drives really easily. We hope to get enough drivers so your turn comes once every couple months. Send a note to Gretchen Hood in the office.

See you in church!
