Old Donation Episcopal Church

September 3, 2017
Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Weekly Chimes

Hello Old Donation!
In case you weren't able to be at coffee hour on Sunday after the 10:30 services...the Urquidi baby is a GIRL! Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us, for all of your love and support, and a big thank you to Martha Wilson for organizing the whole reveal.
So, now that the big secret is out, it's time for me to go on vacation. I'll be out of the office Sept 5-19, and while I'll miss seeing all of you, I'm very much looking forward to a little time away (at home, with family from Germany visiting) so I can come back refreshed and ready to go!
In the meantime, this week is a pretty normal week around ODEC. No program tonight, so you can stay home, or even better, spend some time outside enjoying this beautiful weather! While you are enjoying the fall breeze and sunshine, remember Texas in your prayers as they are not faring nearly as well. Though it's easy to feel helpless, there is something you can do. ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development) is collecting funds to support Hurricane Harvey victims. Bishop Holly has been in touch with Bishop Doyle in Texas, and has been informed that this is the best thing that can be done to help. Please, prayerfully consider clicking here for a link to donate.
On Sunday, Fr. Fred will be preaching at 8:00, 9:15, and 10:30 and Fr. Bob will be in the Gathering. Don't forget, it's Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday! Bring your backpack (or purse or briefcase if you're a teacher) to church for any service and receive a blessing for the school year. The offices are closed on Monday for Labor Day, but will be back up and running first thing on Tuesday.
That's all for now, my friends. I'll see you around!

What's Happening Today...

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry on Hurricane Harvey
In recent days, we have watched and witnessed the devastation in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Our brothers and sisters in Texas and Louisiana need our help. Episcopal Relief & Development reminds us not to send food, clothing or other items because affected dioceses have limited or no capacity to receive, store or distribute goods. It is more efficient and better for the local economy to make a donation. Episcopal Relief & Development already has actions in place for assistance.  You may also give through Old Donation's Online Giving. Please highlight Episcopal Relief and Development for the fund designation.
