Chinatown Big Egg Hunt 'Selfie' Contest 
The Faberge Big Egg Hunt is afoot in New York City this month including Chinatown and our neighbor Little Italy! From Tuesday, April 8, 2014 (10AM EST) to Thursday, April 17, 2014 (11:59PM EST), enter the Chinatown Partnership's Chinatown Big Egg Hunt Selfie Contest to enter and win one of two mini egg grand prizes (shown below), and other great runner-up prizes.
Over 260 egg sculptures, each individually created by the world's leading artists, designers and creatives, are currently on display across the city until Thursday, April 17, 2014. After that they will all be on display together at Rockefeller Center and then auctioned off to support children's and elephant preservation causes.
Winners will be drawn randomly and notified on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
 
Selfie Photo Contest Grand Prize Mini Eggs
Contest Rules:
1. Visit all eight of the following locations:
- Red Egg, 202 Centre Street (Restaurant)
- Nom Wah, 13 Doyers Street (Restaurant)
- iLook, 64 Mott Street (Optical Store)
- Sambuca's Caf�, 105 Mulberry Street (Caf�)
- Il Cortile Ristorante, 125 Mulberry Street (Restaurant)
- Umberto's Clam House, 132 Mulberry Street (Restaurant)
- Il Piccolo Bufalo, 141 Mulberry Street (Restaurant)
- Italian Food Center, 186 Grand Street (Restaurant)
2. At each location, take a selfie (a photo of yourself) together with the egg. After taking a photo, do please try and patron the current location before moving onto the next location as they would greatly appreciate your business.
3. Post all eight selfie photos to Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #ChinatownBigEggHuntSelfie, and also send all eight selfie photos in via e-mail to [email protected], with your name, address and phone number. If you do not have Facebook or Twitter, just send all eight selfie photos via e-mail.
Please note, by submitting your photo to Chinatown Partnership, you authorize Chinatown Partnership to use your photo on our website, e-newsletter and/or other printed and electronic mediums for promotional purposes.

New Salsa Workshop Series & Mandarin/Cantonese
Classes in Chinatown by the ALESN
New Salsa Workshop Series begins! Charles Domenico will be returning to ALESN to teach a short, three session workshop series on the art "Salsa dancing." These workshops began Saturday, April 5th, and will continue on April 12th and April 26th. The workshops will be conducted in the dance room from 4:30-5:30. No prior dance experience required. Participants should be in reasonably good health and wear comfortable clothing. Please don't miss this opportunity to learn this wonderfully fun and popular form of dance.
Tony and Roger's MMA class will be shortened to one hour, from 3:30-4:30 for the duration of these workshops.NEW SCHEDULE

Graffiti and Bills/Stickers Removal Authorization

Under NYC Law, all property owners are required to remove, or arrange for the removal of graffiti from their property. The Chinatown DMA has contracted sanitation services for the district with Block by Block in an effort to help keep our district clean and graffiti free. Block by Block will remove all graffiti and bills/stickers upon permission of the property owner, subject to weather conditions and building/roof access where necessary.

Chinatown Cherry Blossom Festival
 The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of New York is organizing their Annual "Chinatown Cherry Blossom Festival" in Confucius Plaza to promote cultural activities with performances and products from many different sponsors.
This event will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 11am-5pm.
The festival will be an event filled with performances, celebration and booths setup by various vendors. Be sure to check out this once a year interesting event.

The Search for General Tso
A documentary film about Chinese food in America
From New York City to the farmlands of the Midwest, there are around 50,000 Chinese restaurants in the U.S. While there can be quite a range of Chinese-American dishes, one in particular seems to have conquered the American culinary landscape with a force befitting its military moniker-"General Tso's Chicken." Walk into any Chinese restaurant in the country and you can be fairly certain you'll be rewarded with a plate of this sweet and sticky fried chicken-seemingly just spicy enough for the American palate. But how did this dish reach such levels of ubiquity and who was General Tso in the first place? This delightfully insightful documentary seeks to uncover the origins of a dish that Americans have warmly adopted as their own. As director Ian Cheney journeys to Shanghai and Hunan, it becomes increasingly clear that the answers lie much closer to home, as the story of General Tso's Chicken becomes inextricably linked to the story of Chinese Americans' own search to define their identity.
