A Note From Lucille Olson
That Illusive Something

I remember a time when life felt like one big endurance contest that I was not winning! Something was missing in my life and I didn’t know what it was. I started searching for that illusive something by going to a different church every Sunday. When I finally walked into Unity, I knew I had found it. There was so much love present, I would spontaneously burst into tears during the services. I couldn’t explain it logically, but my soul knew I had found a place to heal.

I have come to believe that healing is a part of our spiritual journey. There is a place inside all of us that longs for nurturing, safety, comfort, healing, love and joy. Our addictive behaviors are all a part of that search for the illusive something that we feel we lack. What we don’t recognize is that we have had it all along within us. Every atom of our being is animated by the action of Spirit. The life force is constantly circulating in our body, sustaining every organ and function with wholeness. When we seek a conscious connection with Spirit, our healing brings about peace, calm, and harmony in our bodies and in our lives.

Each one of us is traveling on their own spiritual path that leads us to knowledge. This knowledge is not attained by book learning. We begin in spiritual understanding by relying on our connection with Spirit for our inner strength and wisdom. We begin to trust ourselves and the Universe. We relax and begin to go with the flow of life as it is presented to us. This is all a part of healing.

When we find a place that feels comforting, go there often and explore your thoughts and feelings. It might even be a spot in nature where you feel at home rather than a church. When you find your spot and open your heart to Spirit, that illusive something can find you and the healing will begin.
