A Note from The Teacher
Vacation Bible this year was lots of fun!  Our theme was "Storytelling."  We studied stories of children in the Bible, Old Testament stories, and emphasized Jesus's parables and discussed how He made His lessons/stories connect to the people by setting them in vineyards or in fields with sheep.  We talked about Jesus's parable about the lost coin and the lost sheep and then altered it to our modern times for the children by asking them how they would feel about a lost Lego and their worry and concern over finding that one missing piece.  The children were then challenged to create their own stories, writing and illustrating their works in book sized journals.  They could retell a story from the Bible or choose another story to demonstrate Jesus working in their lives or in the world around them.  Some children retold the story of Noah's ark; one retold David and Goliath; one told of Jesus's life; a couple told about their mothers; and one told about Father Justin and his work.

Each day we began in the sanctuary singing Sunday School sing-along songs.  The children's favorites were the action packed "Happy All the Time (Inright, Outright)," "Hallelu, Hallelujah," and "Siyahamba."  We then traveled to the undercroft for lessons and crafts before finishing each day with lunch in the parish hall.  The last day we celebrated with a pizza party and read the children's completed stories to one another.

Many, many thanks to all our participants and volunteers!  We rely on each other, and it is such a special bond!

Blessings,
Amy Seaman

Tea and Talk

A new ladies social group will begin meeting the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for Tea & Talk. We'll be sharing informally with one another on matters that fill our lives. This is going on with my children--can you relate? I am facing this issue at work--do you have advice? I'm having trouble juggling all the demands placed on me at home and with all the other activities in my life--can you support me and encourage me? We'll close each session with a prayer to carry us through to our next meeting. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, August 11, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Please contact Amy Seaman for more information.
